Doesn't bother me, though. If you don't tip I just won't take your order. If you live more than 5 miles away from the restaurant you're ordering from you best leave a big arse tip or it's:

1. Going to take forever because it will keep getting declined. Food will likely be cold by the time it gets to you.

2. Won't get picked up at all.
God forbid people may want to withhold a tip before, you know, the actual service is provided??

This generation...hell I'm 47 now but when I was a freshman in high school (1988 maybe) working at a locally owned grocery store, while working at nights the owner would let me and a buddy put out a tip jar at the cash register reading "Spring Break Fund."

As I remember over a period of 3 weeks we made about $100 each. I was stoked.

Like I said, I don't actually care one way or another.

I'm just not taking an order with no tip. If it gets to the point where they hide the payout info before we get to accept/decline an order I'll find employment elsewhere.

Just like it's of no obligation for anyone to tip, I'm not gonna waste my time without knowing it's going to be worth it.

Seems like everyone go, when you pay with credit card, always ask to tip (lit pizza, izzos, they all use same program where it defaults to 15% tip). I mean, those kids get paid an hour rate, i get they want a tip but default to 15% of order to hand me a buffito? Anyone else seeing this

i think you need to be specific

You have counter service (izzos, etc) where they absolutely do get an hourly rate, at least min wage, and yes tipping 15% or more there is stupid, I give 10% if the service is excellent and the food looks great

Then you have full service restaurants where everything is brought to you and order is placed with a server. The servers there only make 2.15/hour or so. They absolutely deserve 15% if they did a decent job. And in most cases 20%

But if it counter service then I absolutely agree with you

Pretty sure like 3 posts ago you said it doesn’t bother you if people don’t tip

It clearly bothers you

Just had lit pizza today

Hit other, changed tip to $1.00 and called it a day

I actually prefer this to a place that prints you out a receipt to sign with a tip line that you have to sign while the person waits for it back.

You are the reason people are tired of tipping

What if they want to wait until after you've delivered it to tip? Because tips are supposed to ensure prompt service............So you are basing your decision on whether they pre-allocated money to the tip before the order?????

i sure as shite don't PRE-TIP my uber driver before the drive, and I don't pre-tip my server at the restaurant before the meal.

So Why should i pre-tip a delivery driver before I get my food, thats fricking stupid.

I actually said it in the post you're replying to. But nice reading comprehension there.

And no, it doesn't bother me. I just decline an order if there is no tip. I just thought it might be nice to know for people who use Doordash because I see questions pop up on a doordash forum about why their food is cold, or why nobody accepted their order. And it's because of no tip.

So no, it doesn't bother me if people don't tip. I'm still getting paid.

Again, not my issue.

If you tip, great, your transaction will go smoothly. If you don't, it will likely still get picked up but there is a chance it won't.

I'll just go back to warehouse work in the meantime if the structure ever changes or I'm not making enough money.

Yall seem really upset by this.

I find it shitty that DoorDash asks for and displays a tip on the potential order before a dasher even decides to accept it.

Yep totally messed up system, not how it works at all. Used to deliver for a pizza place and an older similar service called Takeout Express (as well as Uber, but that was before they added a tipping option....dammit). Would never expect to be tipped before even getting off my arse, that is ridiculous. However, at Takeout Express if a driver was stiffed on multiple occasions by the same delivery location, that location was blacklisted. But just stupid to expect a tip before a service is provided.

You honestly believe a server working five five hour shifts per week their is making $2500?

A lot of those people are probably going to tip when their order arrives - it is pretty standard for delivery food

To hell with that counter service tip crap. That’s a no for me.

Especially since all they’ve done so far is take your order. What if they screw it up, you asking for a tip refund?

If I don’t actually get any service, I scratch a line through the tip line. I’m not giving you 15-20% to bag my food. Get fricked.
