im sure homeowners thinking that insurance is also a "roof maintenance" policy hasn't helped.

1/3 all all premiums are used to pay legal fees.

Fighting insurance now.
I have a foundation company coming today. Insurance said foundation looked fine. I had 2 2 ton trees land on my 100 year old pier and beam house, but the foundation is fine.
Okay

It’s 1 factor to how your insurance premium is determined. This particular factor is frequency of claims in a certain radius of where your vehicle is garaged.

Yet my insurance is trying to tell me that it only costs $1,800 to rip out, and replace, tape and float sheetrock for my master bedroom (walls and ceilings).
What does your hired contractor’s estimate say? Be sure you give that to your claims handler. Let them work it out.

That is what we are doing right now.
It just feels like such a slog.
Insurance says this. We say no its this. Insurance says prove it. We prove it. And then a month or 2 later we get to actually start.

Many years ago, I had my wife's engagement ring added to m policy. The lady on the phone congratulated me, and we chit chatted about it. I made a comment during the call that "I spent more time at her house than mine" or similar, and the NEXT WEEEK received a letter that they had terminated my policy due to my home not being primary residence.
Lesson learned. Don't engage in conversation with people.

We have like 6 different policies on the various parts of the business.
Doesn’t mean you were paying for good coverage on business property damage. I’m interested how your claims adjuster responded when you gave them your hired contractors estimate for the cost to repair/replace your business’ property damage. It might be a sleazy insurance company, or you just wanted the cheapest coverage to keep your insurance expense low. There are typically 2 sides to these issues.

Did your insurance company hire an engineer to be the mediator? That’s standard procedure when you have a dolt for a claims adjuster.

Insurance is great. You pay all this money for years, and when you finally have to use it, you get to pay more money.

Just wait until you get to the umpire, and the umpire agrees with you, and the insurance company still wants to fight you on it and insist their number is correct.
At least in this situation, the insurance company did have to finally cut a check and are now just refusing the bad faith portion of the claim.

Lmao...the "engineer" just adds credibility to the scam.
I am literally sitting here with a check that just arrived from FIGA for Hurricane Sally in 2020.
After this experience, I will contact my lawyer first, then my insurance co to file a claim. The days of working with a contractor and claims adjuster are over.

I’m confused on your question?
Can I name a business that doesn’t make money ?
Or are you talking about insurance companies? There are plenty that took on stupid risk and are now defunct

Are you kidding?
The insurers are being scammed by roofers and bad faith verdicts that have no merit.
People will wake up and realize judges and juries are ignorant and killing the insurability of their own areas.

I'd love to ditch my homeowners insurance. I end up having to fix everything myself anyway.
Once it's paid off, that shite is gone. I'll take my chances. If I have to build a new house because mine burns to the ground, well shite I guess I'll build me a new house.
