re: With uptick in gun violence, do you avoid large gatherings?
Posted by concrete_tiger on 5/5/24 at 4:37 pm
No. But to be fair, I don't attend many things that would be typical targets, nor do I live in an area where I am aware of "local" violence happening in the past 16-17 years. Ahem.
That being said, I have a habit of assessing the situation wherever I am. My mind is dark. I do play out scenarios a...
Is there anywhere that that water gets next to your foundation in a heavy rain? I have heard of capillary action of a crack on concrete drawing water through a slab in that instance.
We've lived here for almost 10 years, had no issues with rain. The only thing I can tell is that pe...
Wet basement floor… ideas?
Posted by concrete_tiger on 5/5/24 at 2:06 pm
Our basement is split into 5 rooms, one is mostly unfinished with the hvac and storage.
We have rugs on the floor of the storage room and I got a soggy greeting earlier today.
No leaking plumbing, not wet lumber in sight. No movement at meter when water is off, I don’t think we have a leak. ...
re: British Muslim politician wins last night in Leeds. Shouts Allahu Akbar.

I’ve said it before. My UK office was in Luton. In 10 years with that company, the city was transformed dramatically into some weird muslim enclave.
The lack of intent by them to assimilate or balls by us to force it is what will get us all. ...

Sympathy for fat people… difficult

Dear Facebook…
Was pumping gas this morning, ($3.49/gallon) and watched a huge lady get out of her truck. It took her a minute to wiggle out, and she could barely lift a leg to walk, so it was more of an uncomfortable shuffle.
I wondered if she had a disability. I felt sad for her.
I went...
Another year of him stealing a spot from someone who deserves it. It's not a lifetime achievement award.
You are an idiot. Nobody is getting bent of shape or losing a spot to one of the all time greats. You think the amateur at the Masters cared that he was playing on Tiger's wor...

Not sure why people get so bent out of shape over Tiger.
Even when he's not playing well, he moves the needle more than any other player on the course. I've been to tournaments, and you can't deny it. You can have the world #1 golfer on the course, but the gallery is following Tiger.
When Ti...

re: How hard is the jump from one child to two?

Puh-lease. 2 kids is a cake walk.
3 kids is easier than 2.
Now, the problem is when they are teen agers. ...

re: Chili's might end McDonald's
Posted by concrete_tiger on 4/30/24 at 8:19 pm
When our kids were little, we'd go to Chili's maybe once per week.
We were given a fat stack of kids eat free coupons, and it was cheap and convenient.
There isn't a Chili's convenient to us anymore, that place is now a First Watch. In other words, they swapped a place we could treat a family ...

One of my favorite Americans is John Hancock. When some were worried about what would happen to people that signed the DOI… he took the pen and signed that fricker large enough for poor-sighted King George to read without mistaking who wrote it.

I discard resumes that display this or hint at it.
I always find their social media profiles and assess the situation there, too. It's amazing that people applying for jobs don't at least scrub their recent profiles.

What are you basing this list off of?
We went to Auburn, and have nieces and nephews there and/or recently graduated. While Auburn isn't as woke as Harvard... it is creeping with liberals. We lost a nephew to this.
