It's criminal what insurance companies are allowed to get away with! Of course, when you have politicians in your corner, you're allowed to do anything and get away with it!

My beef with insurance companies is that if you have a relatively expensive home (which just about everyone does now due to the housing crisis) there is no way you can file a claim, sans catastrophic damage, because the deductible will outweigh the project itself. So if I have any roofing damage I have to pay out of pocket - while say a smaller house with same roofing area gets to file a claim.

Also - it's bullshite that your premiums continue to climb when you've been a loyal customer for many decades without filing a claim.

Why would I carry anything but liability, hot shot? I haven’t been in an accident since I was in high school and I’m 45?

Give me one reason, in your trashy, very small mind I need to pay for insurance vs taking a minimum risk I could easily cover if the world ended?

I have made one claim in 18 years of living in my home. never been flooded. even before i purchased it, it has never flooded. and my one claim was actually a claim that was being reimbursed by my neighbors insurance. IE NO money out of my insurance company's pockets.

What caused you to file a claim?

their first offer to me was $12K. The final bill was a few dollars short of $60K. I pay them because I have to. F them. Soulless m'fers.

Did you have to pay anything other than your deductible?

my rates have jumped in the last two years. about 100% total. and I am a "lucky" one regarding these rates.

Have you been paying attention to prices of the things insurance companies cover for you? I’m guessing you have not.

If you don’t understand why you shouldn’t carry state minimum liability limits when you brag about wealth, you’re dumber than people even think you are.

You’re quite honestly one of the most hated, trashy mofos on the OT and that’s saying A LOT.

I vote for you go to jail for 5 years if you are caught driving without insurance and you lose your license for life.

Also you have to get insurance on anything you drive on the roads, so yes your little bicycle is included.

Best legal scam available next to investment banking. Completely controlled by the 7 families, immune from everything but litigation and with arbitration and caps they don’t really care about that either.

They basically rule the world

Just come out and say you don’t know how insurance works. Maybe then you will find peace. The politicians are in the corner of personal injury lawyers. You know, LSU’s NIL chief financier, Gordon McKernan. Maybe when people in Louisiana start to care about the laws in place that make your insurance premiums unaffordable, you will make some good change. Of course, the Tigahs won’t get those top ‘croots anymore.

I’m sure someone else much smarter than me and you has figured that it’s cheaper to settle than fight. It’s a business to make money and mitigate costs. Keep thinking.

That's cool and all but we didn't go cheap. We have like 6 different policies on the various parts of the business. Multiple independent adjusters sided with us.

Insurance companies suck dick and like another has stated, it's obvious you're a salesman

As an underwriter, I'd advise EVERYONE to use an independent claims adjuster if you think you're getting screwed.

Henry is correct, though. Most people just buy what's mandated by the State, have no idea what terms are in their policies, and then bitch when a uncovered loss occurs.

I personally think that only liability insurance should be required, but with the way society has evolved over the years (more towards socialism), that could never work.

small independent start up insurance companies should not have been allowed to come into the state, especially post katrina, and undercut costs the way they did. There is no way a premium in southeast LA should have ever been $600-$800

There was a line of companies coming in, undercutting premiums, gambling with the numbers, knowing that if a large catastrophe struck they would be going under and they were allowed to do it

The state incentivized them to do so.

The answer: if you can afford to self insure your assets, as well as your ability to make an income, there’s no reason to carry anything that the government forces you to. You would also be in the <1% so congrats on winning life.

Also, why carry insurance at all. You’re not going to jail, they’re too full. And if you can afford to self insure everything I mentioned, you certainly can afford the little fine that goes along with driving without insurance.
