Thanks! Next time you’re in 30A I’ll buy you a drink.

Keep punching those clouds. You’ll find the relief you’re looking for, I’m certain of it.

As an agent I have no say in claims as far as settling vs fighting said claim. Seems like an odd argument since both happen on a consistent basis. Florida passed a Tort reform bill earlier this year to mitigate some of the uncertainty, and injury bar attorneys filed 280k property claims before it went into effect to drag it out over a few more years.
You can get mad at me, the insurance companies, the attorneys, the insureds, but the truth is everyone plays a part and the system is fricked.

100% increase last 2 years is certainly suspect, but in the last 2 years costs have soared, so it’s natural for your insurance premiums to increase. Besides losing a claim free discount (if offered), your claim had nothing to do with homeowners rate to increase. I’m not saying you’re claiming it did, just a common misconception. Homeowners rates are based on several things, but mostly what it would cost for the insurance company to rebuild your house if it was burned to the slab.

i will acknowledge that I am way luckier than many of my friends that have had their insurance companies have left LA since Ida and they have had to deal with the state to rebuild their homes.

One thing to note, even though I’m clearly useless, is almost every Homeowners policy will adjust Coverage A for inflation at renewal, which will increase premium in addition to any rate activity.
I know our renewal decs indicate how much increase was due to coverage and how much was due to rate changes.

Only reputable companies. Not the horseshite outfits Louisiana’s insurance commissioner allowed in the state.

Got damn it man. Listen in all reality I understand the frustration with insurance and my profession.

Another property insurer is dropping coverage in Florida.
Consider the fact that Florida's location makes it the most susceptible state in the nation to hurricanes.
Or that we have 3X more coastline that LA and 4X more than TX.
Or that coastal homes in Florida are among the most expensive in the US.
Or that we lead the nation in insurance fraud.
Then consider that......
9% of the homeowners claims in the US are in Florida.
79% of all homeowners insurance lawsuits are in Florida.
Buy yeah, let's blame the insurance companies.
And ironically as I make my post I see an advertisement for a billboard bodily injury lawyer from Ft. Lauderdale right here in the OT-Lounge.

That’s how billion dollar insurance companies become billion dollar insurance companies. I’m here to help.

They take your money for decades but when the going gets tough they back out and do everything they can to avoid assisting financially for the coverage you have been paying years for!
They gave you coverage for decades. Thank God you didn’t have to use it. It doesn’t make financial sense for them to continue to operate. It’s not rocket science.

Which is horeshit to see a doctor for three minutes and a nurse for two minutes. Then they upcode everything to raise the level of the visit.
If I could show you the actual numbers, you’d be surprised of the operating costs and how much in the red a few in Baton Rouge are.
Emergency rooms are for emergencies. Chest pain, strokes, intracranial hemorrhages, trauma related injuries.
Emergency rooms are not for low back pain, toe pain, ear aches, etc.
So if you’re seeing a doctor for “2 minutes”, you don’t have a true emergency and are a part of the problem and why the operating cost keeps increasing.

Logic does not occur to people who have to pay out their asses for living in expensive states that nobody is making them reside in.
