Do you enjoy it? Honestly, I deal with the VC world on occasion, and while it is fascinating and exciting, I don't enjoy working in that world.

"Stock options" in the tech industry is code for "We've convinced that stupid son of a bitch to work for free".

B/c you're worried about whether you should feel inferior to another person or not. That's a total beta move, which would in fact, make you inferior to the alphas out there.

Yeah, vesting requirements are insidious and nobody ever thinks about how they're 100% designed to keep you working without paying you.

Until the harsh realities of life punch them in the mouth.
Then...sky screams & a desperate search for a safe space.

More likely they find another startup or can always just enter the rat race and work for a Bill Lumberg like you currently do and still end up with a salary comparable to yours that you worked 20 years of 2 percent raises to get to.

All of the old plant workers on here are getting heated because they didn't take any chances earlier in their life. Don't mind them.

I’m sure all the people you are describing that started at Amazon, during the “startup” phase are laughing at this thread, all the way to the bank.
