re: Houston rain continues.......

I've been walking a bunch lately because of the rain. I can play faster walking than someone riding when it's CPO, plus the exercise
Theres a torchys and twisted root right off of campus on SMU boulevard if you are just looking for something quick. There's also a place called Blatts burger only about a mile away that is pretty good. Really depends on what you want to eat
Damn... An 8 page thread reminiscing about a guy you all supposedly hated and wanted gone...

No we aren't, he'll only be playing two days.

So we, as a society, are too lazy to get our own fast food.

Maybe we, as a society, figured out a way to better utilize our time than going and picking up our own food.
We use it at work from time to time, though not on fast food. Never had a problem and usually takes about a half hour

That's why I said that's the impression that is city like Dallas gives

If you've never been I guess that could be true

Pecan lodge, Lockhart, cattleack..

Nah, let's go to Rudy's

He also said the best pizza he's ever had was in Austin so I assume this guy doesn't get out much

My wife was in love with Rudy's

Was it a tie with Dickies?

He should be disqualified on giving opinions on food and entertainment on this statement alone.

It's like saying you had the best texmex is Houston after going to on the border

Like I said, I have a ton of family in DFW and I specifically mentioned Deep Ellum but to suggest that any of those places approach anything like any of the neighborhoods in New Orleans it's quite a stretch.

No one said that.

Like I said, every city has its spots

No you said Dallas is a bunch of Dave and Buster's and Olive Gardens, about half a dozen times.
quote:

In general, that's the impression places like Dallas give

Yeah man, uptown, state Thomas, deep ellum, lower Greenville, bishop arts, trinity groves, all cookie cutter as can be.

HG Supply, Happiest Hour, Pecan Lodge, Deep Ellum brewing, none are more than an Olive Garden

maybe others like coore-crenshaw, doak, hanse, etc turned it down because of the land they had to work with but given 24 million they have the capability to make a course that people would travel from across the country to play, and rees jones has never done that in his career.

Doak is doing the renovation of Memorial in Houston for half of that budget and what I'm assuming isn't much better, if at all, piece of land. If I had to guess I'd chalk this up to typical New Orleans mismanagement. They probably wanted something vanilla

I've eaten at every pizza place in New Orleans and that is easily the best pizza I've ever had

I have no advice, but this sounds like a nightmare.

I would like to think I'm not nearly as defensive.

There's nothing wrong with a little bit of passionate debate every once in a while. I'll you see you guys in New Orleans in 2 weeks

Your posts on this thread though ALL indicate you are more intent in hating on other folk's choices

I have no problem with people that live in NOLA, I like visiting. I'm only arguing that it's not some magical place that exclusively has culture. I'll visit a couple times a year and avoid all the bullshite that goes along with living there and still derive the benefits.

NOLA people are just notorious about making shite up to try to push their "New Orleans isnt that bad and every where else is cookie cutter houses and Olive Gardens" which is laughable and just makes you look like an idiot.

But that's not to say that there's not spots where the infrastructure is great.

I'd be interested in you naming just one.

You can build all the Top Golfs, Buc-ee's, Dave & Buster's, Olive Gardens and hold all the SXSWs that you want.

This is just stupid and disenginous, there are tons of cool local places, high end restaurants, breweries, etc. Again, I'm not telling you NOLA isn't unique, it is. But to argue Dallas is just a bunch of olive gardens and Applebee's is stupid.
