Hitler this, Hitler that. Fascism. Racism. Hysteria!
Things that 20 years ago would be considered insane to bring up are just everyday things now.
No more shock value or taboo.
I believe this is going to have unintended consequences on the youth from a Dem POV….
Things once considered unspeakable are now just willy nilly and not that extreme.

Correct. One supported ZANU & one support ZAPU.
And we sat on our hands out of fear of appearing “racist”.

And let’s not forget that our country and Europeans left rhodesians out to dry when they were a true meritocracy in the sense blacks and whites were successful because of their work not their skin color. Lots of former rhodesians in South Africa around Pretoria when I was there a decade ago that were teens during the fall of their country. Most had lost their whole families. Similar to what they’re doing to South African whites now.
Spot on. It really is quite sad how the entire western world abandoned them.
At least Portugal backed them until they lost control of Mozambique.
I always thought if Rhodesia could have held out another year then I bet Reagan would have been sympathetic to their cause. I think he would’ve helped them due to his fervent aversion to communism.
That is very cool that you’ve met folk from there. I’d love to visit Victoria Falls one day in Zimbabwe but I don’t have the balls to do so

OP, you need to do some reading on the country that was Rhodesia, now modern day Zimbabwe.
Rhodesia was the bread basket of Africa and basically fed the continent.
It was white minority ruled and was very advanced and sophisticated with an elite, albeit small, military.
They declared independence from England in the 60’s and lost an internal war against communist black guerrilla forces backed by China & the Soviet Union and folded in 1980, becoming Zimbabwe. The Rhodesians then fled for South Africa, England and the US.
And the rest is history… Zimbabwe turned into an eternal famine and now has worthless currency due to x100000000 inflation.
Robert Mugabe & Joshua Nkomo were the leaders who ousted Prime Minister Ian Smith.

This movie deserves an award for the audio mixing.
The “shows of force” were incredible in the theater.
My God, I am so grateful for the heroes in our military who served and continue to serve our country.

The book “A Few Hard Men” about the Rhodesian SAS during the Rhodesian Bush Wars is an excellent read. Whites got hung out by the English and the rest of the world. Whole area of south Africa went to shite.
I bought this book last week and just started it today.
Rhodesia and what happened to it is a microcosm of global communism vs the sovereign nation state. We see it all around us today.
The US was chicken shite to not help them out vs Mugabe & Nkomo (who were backed by the Chinese and Soviets)
If Rhodesia could’ve held on just a year or 2 longer, I would bet money that Reagan would’ve been a huge backer of theirs.
