Golden Pantry in Athens/North Georgia has a good biscuit.
I'm trying to figure out where all these gas station homemade breakfast biscuit deserts are. Must be a Louisiana thing. I hope that we never become one of these biscuit deserts!

The local gas station business stopped being a good idea when it became the hangouts for hobos and people who buy little to nothing and loiter around or steal stuff. No one wants to deal with the headache anymore. The profit margin just isn't worth it.

The old Italian owned food store is a habib.
Good to see that Louisiana small town racism has not been lost.

The ones at the gas station at US 190 and LA 26 (between Basile and Elton) will make you slap your mom, twice.
To add, if you go on in to Elton, you’ll find the boudin plus old timers having coffee and speaking French, at Mr. T’s.

There will always be some erosion over the years.
But rest assured: for better or for worse, Louisiana will always - unapologetically - remain true to itself.
The things that make it a singular place are too deeply-ingrained.

This was absolutely my small son's life in the 90s. That gas station was torn down and it is a walgreens now.

A demitasse, but Styrofoam. He likes a little bit of black coffee.

I forgot you know the three gas stations 10, 11, and 14 miles from my home.
How silly of me....

I'll add a few of my own sad small town LA changes:
-they put up a plant where we used to park
-the old drive in is a new WalMart
-the cafe is closed (where our names were carved on that corner booth)
