Great post, thanks.

I'm strongly considering getting a Tesla before the tax credit runs out (most likely before end of month), mostly because of the FSD. Any thoughts/experience with one of the newer hardware (HW4) and software combos for FSD?

Also, the Tesla driverless summon (arse) is supposedly a mess. I've assumed that it was because it needs to be super cautious when it doesn't have someone behind the wheel. But apparently, even under supervised FSD, Teslas go full retard in parking lots. Any idea why that's an issue when they're supposedly pretty damned good on roads/highways? It seems that parking lots should be easier than roads.
His wife was here illegally before he married her, and he even says in the OP's tweet that he "supports" immigration (obviously both legal and illegal). He's part of the problem. Being against riots is the most basic bitch position possible, so forgive me if my tits aren't exactly tickled by his tweet.

Hopefully they let this one bake a bit longer than they did the first one. The first was really, really close to being great, but it just felt... hollow.

Yeah, I was expecting a lot from a team of developers that was heavily involved in the GOAT (Fallout NV).

The art style and world building was pretty great, so they have a good foundation to build on. I didn't have any issues with the length, or with the game being only semi-open world. I think that the "hollowness" came from a lot of the side missions being fairly dull, which was definitely not the case for the earlier Fallout 1/2/NV (or 3, even though I don't believe that the developers were involved with that one).

The anti-capitalism in the beginning of the trailer made me think that it would be even more heavy-handed than the first, but they made up for it by making fun of that message at the end. I'll be playing this one eventually, as it's likely going to be better than whatever Bethesda ends up shitting out for Fallout 5.

Hard pass on giving away our tax dollars unequally

This. Hungary had the right idea with increasing tax breaks to taxpaying families having children. Don't give this money to the children, as it doesn't help the middle class families worried about the cost of having a child. And definitely don't give it to families/single mothers that get large refunds come tax season. The incentives needed to increase the US birthrate should focus heavily on MARRIED couples making a combined ~$80-250k.

Might not even need to resort to crypto

I'm sure. But I still see central/south Americans sending money from CVS/Walgreens, which I'm sure costs them in terms of fees. It's basically a Laffer Curve situation, except unlike the American taxpayer, I don't care about the people involved.

I'd assume that illegals are mostly paid in cash, so there may be ways to tax the shite out of their remittances. Legals are probably still capable of getting direct deposits, so taxing their remittances might be tricky.
I support the reasoning behind this, but there are likely diminishing returns at some point. They're not sending their best and brightest, but when you increase the tax that drastically, both the legals and illegals doing this are going to start finding ways to work around it (Bitcoin?). We need to find the sweet spot where we penalize remittances as much as possible, but something like 7% is probably better than 15%.

Also, I'm OK with remittances to Mexico being higher than most other countries, but the tax should apply to ALL countries with large immigrant (legal or illegal) populations in the US (central/south America, India, China, middle east).

re: What to think with Tesla now?

Tesla is behind Ford, Mercedes, and even BMW in driver less tech for personal cars

How do you figure? Ford's "driver less tech" only works on certain mapped highways. Very limited.

Mercedes is similar in that it's only available on certain highways, but even more limited in that it's only available in California and Nevada, and only under certain conditions (under 40mph). The only advantage I can see that it has over Tesla is that it apparently allows drivers to take their eyes off of the road, which Tesla doesn't.

BMW appears to have an eyes/hands-free highway option with similar limitations (40mph, highways only) that isn't currently available in the US. Their options in the US appears to be simple highway-only.

Waymo's technology is impressive, but can only be used in geo mapped cities, of which there are currently 4 metro areas served. Plus it's not an option to own as a full time vehicle.

Teslas can self-drive pretty much anywhere in the country. I see no objective basis to claim that Ford/Mercedes/BMW are better options right now. Waymo may be, but there are a shitload of roads and people that aren't located in LA/SF/Phoenix/Austin.

Agreed. Zion came into the season overweight as usual, got hurt as usual, then came back in the best shape + playing his best since his 2nd season. I really think that the "injury" that got him shut down late in the season was a tank move. His value is too damaged to be worth trading right now. I'm not against trading Zion, but him staying healthy and in shape is the only chance this team has at being relevant over the next 3+ seasons. Plus he's fun to watch when he's on his game. And there's still talent on the team between CJ/Herb/Trey/85% healthy Murray, but they're not putting asses in the seats unless Trey takes a big step up soon (which he very well may), so I really don't think that the Pels are considering moving him.

I'll eat some crow. His early filmography was better than I thought, especially starting off his career with a banger like Galaxy Quest. Crossroads and Herbie Fully Loaded are the only big turds early on.

He's obviously not the only actor that could have handled both roles. There are even some that could have probably done one/both roles a bit better. But for being the annoying Dell guy + generally shitty romcom actor, he knocked these out of the park.

Brandon: Thank you.
Zack: fricking movies?
Brandon: fricking movies. Pretty much.
Zack: Look at you! Anything I've seen? What movies?
Brandon: Oh, all sorts of movies with all-male casts.
Zack: All-male casts? Like "Glengarry Glen Ross"? Like that?
Brandon: Like "Glen and Gary suck Ross's meaty cock and drop their hairy nuts in his eager mouth."
Zack: [stunned] Is that like a sequel?
Brandon: Sort of. It's a reimagining.
Zack: Oh, like "The Wiz".
Brandon: More erotic. And with less women. No women, to be exact.

The fact Axios is willing to release this. Ouch.

I think that's the big question. Why is Axios releasing this information? Biden obviously isn't going to be running for office again, so there's no reason for a democrat opponent to push for this to be released. And Axios wouldn't put this info out without someone giving them the green light. So who gave the green light, and why did they do it?

God bless you for keeping the art deco thread alive, but you are terribly wrong in this case. MST3K was delightful. If you're in Louisiana, you should pitch in n' get cracking towards showing it the respect that it deserves.

His death got a shockingly long (3+ pages) thread on the MTV board. He would have simply been one of those "that guy"s to me if not for MST3K's episode of "Mitchell".

ETA: Sorry for your loss.
I have an idiotically-positive expectation of reasonable health next season. Zion, CJ, Herb, Trey average 65+ games each. That's still a pretty damn good 1-4 lineup, good enough to get us into the play-in as an 8 or 9 seed. Murray will be the difference between whether or not the Pels make any "noise" and make the playoffs/stay competitive. He mostly sucked this season even when he was healthy, but if he can give 75% of his 2021-2024 contributions, then he'll help us win enough games to probably sneak us into the playoffs. Plus, if we do luck out and have adequate health, Murray coming back makes our bench a lot better with either him or CJ being the 6th man.

I think Murray's fairly weak play during his short time with us this season helps people forget how good he's been in the past. He put up 21/9/8 with really good defense in 21/22. He's peaked at 37% from 3 (on limited attempts), but he'll probably be working on that a lot while he recovers.
