That was TDSgumbo. I still haven't forgiven him for my new roof and higher insurance rates.

Will this mess up the LSU vs Florida St game in Orlando next Sunday?
This model, should it hold, shows landfall at about 96 hours..which would be Tues/Wed nowhere near Orlando.

Oh, and BTW, bad hurricanes don't drop much rain...what you want is a tropical storm that doesn't park over your arse for 3 days and flood all your neighbors and infrastructure.
It has nothing to do with intensity. Harvey was a Cat 4 and it dropped the most rain in 24 hours in recorded history. Rainfall depends on the forward speed. Ian dropped 27 inches across the peninsula as a Cat 5.

If heat dome puts lid on Aug/sept hurricanes I’m good with that

The guys over at storm2k are worried this will be a cat 2. One guy “wouldn’t be surprised if it blows up into a cat 4/5”.

Should I bring my tomato plants in?

Everyone at storm2k thinks everything is blowing up and everything is going to Texas. There’s no checks and balances over there. At least here the idiots get put in their place.

Yeah. I sometimes read those threads and they all think "the world is about to end". Then I listen to Levi and realize they are full of crap.
Who ever came up with the idea for the movie "The day after tomorrow" probably got the idea from that site.

Any chance that thing might shift so Louisiana and Mississippi might get some rain?

There's a chance LA gets some rain out of it, but it isn't really the storm that would bring it. There could be some left over energy in the NE Gulf after it passes that could lift towards LA. That's been more or less a trend for a few model runs now.

Euro kind of picked up on this, no defined LLC for awhile as it jumps around near the Yucatán
Luckily intensity models are showing a TS so no real dangerous threat like with a hurricane

I go to Storm2k all the time and don't get the sense that "everyone" wants or expects all storms to blow up.
There is a mix of opinions but i look for the actual meteorologists opinions... not the randos.
YMMV

Wait, I can’t be a weather thread expert and jinxer at the same time!
Seriously though, if it makes y’all feel any better, all my shite is dying right now except for that particular oak I wanted Ida to take out. Everything is dead as a door nail but that big bastard looks like it’s in a damn rainforest right now.

Water temps are near 90 around much of the water off Florida. If wind shear lessens, this one will rapidly intensify.
Posted on 8/26/23 at 12:35 pm to The Boat
If isn’t Texas they think they it’s going to Florida also. There’s some real good knowledgeable people on that board just got to sift through the BS for the most part
