Per Grok: Sample ranges for the full trip (tickets + hotel + food + basics, excluding airfare)

Budget$2,500–$4,000 Value or off-site hotel, mostly quick-service food, quieter dates, limited extras

Mid-range$4,000–$6,500 Moderate resort, mix of dining, some Lightning Lane

Premium$7,000+Deluxe resort, more table-service/character dining, higher-demand dates, more add-ons

A lot of people are hung up on the $10K price.

That price includes airfare, since their drive would be 15+ hours. We encouraged them to fly due to the long drive.

They’ve decided to drive to reduce costs, so the total price is now reduced.

They are not staying in luxury accommodations, but are staying onsite in the Disney bubble.

It would be zero unless your wife planned to get them Christmas gifts and instead chose to give them Disney gift cards, or whatever, of a similar value to what she would have gotten them otherwise.

I think it's great that you are wanting to help. It will be something the kids will never forget. Now I agree with others that if she is always needing money then I say nothing. If they are a hard working young family that have pride and would never ask for money.

Id say offer to pay for the hotel cost. Let them pay for the Travel expenses, food, and Entertainment.

If your wife is going too just have her pay for some things; dinner, kids toys, kids special meetings with characters along the way.

If your wife isn't going i wouldn't recommend giving anyone cash. Maybe buy character dinner dining tickets for their family or something. Or fund the Meet a Princess in the Castle thing for family. But never give anyone cash...its bad business.

I’d buy one nice dinner in the Park for the family of four. So about $350.

Hell no. Helping for something vital is fine. Helping pay for vacation is a no go.

I never had any family offer to pay or ask for vacation money, so this feels very foreign to me.

3 kids in their late 20’s? And taking them all to Disney?

If you are very close to them and you can afford it, I'd send a couple thousand their way. If you don't, the niece may grow to be envious of your wealth and vote for a socialist just to spite you. Or worse yet, pay a hit man to take you out.
