Vacations are luxury.
If you can't afford the vacation, or if it's gonna be a little bit of a hardship, then you do something different that you can afford.
If you do stuff like this for the Niece, they never learn that they need to live within their means, because somebody's always going to come bail, their stupid gen Z a**** out.
Zero.

This is why you need to have 3 buckets - your money, her money, and y'alls money

How much is a park pass. Maybe pay that for a day. I also like the idea another poster put out there of dinner and gift cards for the kids.

A weekend at Six Flags? Sure, I’d help a little bit. A $10k+ Disney trip? Dream on, sister.

I’d be more concerned your wife already told them you’d help pay for it. Could they afford that trip otherwise?

Eh! depends on the niece. I have a few I'd help as much as I can. And a few I wouldn't give the time of day.

I brought my kids to Disney only once when they were older and I could afford it. Disney is not some right of passage for a child. It’s a luxury not a necessity.

My ex brother in law was a VP at Disney in the 80's. Mom and my oldest son got a nice free jaunt to Disney World. Mom and I were the only two in my family who still got along with with the ex. He and I always got along.

No, nothing is significantly cheaper than staying at the value resorts.

and the hotel amenities are WAY better
I don't know many people going to Disney for "hotel amenities." Disney is why you go to Disney.

Staying off property mean either paying to park or ubering to the parks and back every day. It means less time in the parks. It means less likelihood of getting preferred lightning lanes which wastes your time in the parks.

Google Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress, and look at the pool, golf course, rock climbing, and lake...

again, who the frick goes to Disney to do this kind of stuff?

I may give them some Disney gift cards. But having gone on Disney trips. Usually you pay over time. Like you make your deposit then pay until time for trip.

When I was a kid my mom stayed home to raise 3 boys. My parents couldn’t afford catholic school and expensive vacations so we went to Chicot park and occasionally Holly beach.

Figure they will be about $6k in when it’s all done.

If the OP’s niece is spending 10, then they are staying at one of the top resorts and more than 4 days.

All this is even more crazy when one realizes they can go on a great US or good european vacation for that kind of money, a trip with a redeeming value somewhere above watching cartoons and such.

If you have the cash, foot the bill for the vacation. It’s for them babies, and it would be a rock solid thing to do. Imagine the memories you helped create.

Give it as a Christmas gift or something, and sit down the the husband and tell him to use his budget to spoil them babies, and be the big wallet at the restaurants.

Hell yes. Do it and do it with pride.

Hope the OP appreciates having a young responsible family to be in their lives. So many of us have people around that we help out who still can't stop shooting themselves in the foot with stupid decisions. Its both expensive and painful to watch.

If this isn't an ask from them, and you have the funds to give a big gift to someone you care about who's worthy of the gift, you shouldn't need advice from here. The correct answer is anywhere from $0 to paying for the whole trip based on your personal financial situation.

An easier one to make it less awkward is gift cards for each kid as I'm sure there's plenty they can spend it in there to make some memories.

“Have none”

Have a lot”

So if you have no children you don’t have grandchildren.
Sounds like your niece and her children are filling a hole in her life.
Ya’ll have plenty of money so if it makes your wife happy it wouldn’t be a discussion at my house, she could do whatever she wants.
My wife spends a shite ton of money on grandchildren,we’re pretty well fixed and want for nothing,I don’t say a word about it.(Happy wife-happy life)

Some stingy mf’ers on this board.

Only advice I have is try and go in spring,Easter vacation maybe. We went in spring, weather was very nice.People that have gone in the summer have told me it was hot and miserable and their kids didn’t enjoy it.

How many nieces or nephews do you and have? Would they expect vacation help?
