This is the correct answer. The hell is going on these days

Very much so.
Tell them it’s a one-time thing. Doesn’t mean you can’t change your mind later.
There’s a short (and closing) window for them to take their kids. That’s five people who will always remember what you two guys did for them.

i don't get the big backlash here. the niece didnt ask for money. It was the wife idea to give their family a gift. A nice thing to do and if the OP can handle it, then go for it. Vacations are some of the best times in a young family.
When my Uncle's father got old and comfortable, he would give each of his 3 kids $1k for extra spending money to take on their respective family's vacation. It wasn't asked for but greatly appreciated and made their trips even more enjoyable.

get the close relationship, and if she had multiple children and they were a young struggling couple, I might throw them a couple of thou.
Of course, this is assuming there's not a history of them constantly needing money from you or others
this is sxactly where I am as well….as long as y’all have got the money to spare.

You’re opening yourself up to other family members looking for something similar or getting them pissed at you if you refuse.
If you need to do something a gift card is a good idea. They can be used for practically anything there, including hotels or food. If the wife insists maybe $250 for each of the kids and $1k for the niece? My wife tends to do the same thing so you’re in a no win situation.

Agreed. I’m very close with both of my nieces and when they have families of their own I’d offer to pay for a dinner or something along those lines at minimum.
To the OP I would just offer something to help with the extras. Food for the family is going to be costly so if they get a meal plan or something maybe help with that or just pay for some meals.

What do you normally give this entire family for Christmas Gifts? Take that amount and get a card and that would be the gift.
Now you have helped and don't have stress of trying to buy Christmas gifts for people that don't need anything! Because if they can afford to go Disney, they don't need A buncha Christmas shite.

This is a troll, but I will admit it irritated me to even conceptualize the idea that I would be summoned to pay for someone else to go to Disney.
Hell, It irritates me when my wife suggests going to Disney for our own family.

Zero. Unless the niece, her husband, or one of the kids is battling some serious, life threatening illness.
Otherwise maybe just give each kid a $50 Disney gift card to buy themselves a souvenir. But beyond that, why does your wife think yall should be helping to fund vacations for her relatives?

Does your wife make a lot of money?
If she's bringing home 100K/yr, then let her call her shot. If your wife is a SAHW, then they all can take a hike.
Also, did the niece mom do a lot for your wife growing up? My sibblings did a lot for me, so I'm very generous towards my nephews and nieces.
