Ex heroin junkie. Been clean for seven years. Relapse is always one bad decision away. It hasn't been easy. I still dream about heroin.

I have plenty of issues but thank God drugs and alcohol isn't one. I can drink without having to have it every day and I've never done any hard drugs.

I get obsessed with writing something and can’t rest until i’m Done. Been that way for a long long time.
I guess it’s an addiction all its own.

Good for you though bud. I hate to see a man mastered by his addictions

Congrats!

I have witnessed someone I love and care about very dearly make the same choice and it has been life changing. It’s amazing what an impact alcohol/drugs can have on someone and the people that love them.

I was wondering how you were feeling today. Glad to know you got some sleep and answer to your questions.

What do y’all do for fun now?

Same stuff but just no need to booze.
Beach, tailgates, crawfish boils, weddings, house parties, etc. After you get the hang of it, all the events I used to go to are 100% more fun than when I used to drink. It’s crazy.

We went to a dueling piano bar last night in Houston until late. I had more fun than the people getting tanked.
And a bonus: I woke up at 7:30 ready to conquer the world. They’ll be sleeping it off for another 3-4 hours

My sobriety date 9/14/2008. Totaled my truck the morning after the North Texas game that year. Checked into that fine facility in North Richland Parish the next day. Ain’t had a mind altering substance of any kind since that day.

Keep coming back.

January 21, 1978. I was 19 but had hit bottom. Thank God my mother took action with tough love.
A miracle one day at a time. What a journey.

whatever makes you feel better about not being able to get responsibly drunk once a week in your 20s and about once a month when all growed up.

I haven't taken a hit in over 8 minutes.

Looks like I'm due.

Good luck to you though. Everyone has different needs.

I don’t try to advise people on drinking or drugs.

When I do either, I don’t stop until I’m either in jail or the hospital

Best advice I ever got.

Don’t look at sobriety as a lifetime decision. Just know that you won’t get high or drunk today
