Thanks. Feeling a little better but still have some anxiety. Started spending more time downstairs instead of in my bed. Was able to choke down a few bites of food. Will be interested to see what a full night of sleep will do for me tonight.

Man, I've been through the withdrawals with alcohol too many times to count. Landed me in the hospital 2 times. I know your pain on not sleeping, it sucks arse but you will eventually get some sleep. When I came down off a couple month bender, I didn't sleep very well if at all for a week. Find something to keep your mind occupied

I was on subs for months during my last year of using. You can be more stable on them but it is not real sobriety. It may be better than to go to treatment for nine months like I did.

I wouldn’t make taking subs a long term plan. Mother Nature will eventual cash that check. You can survive it. It just helps to know that will have the shits for months and you will have dysphoria (worse than depression) for months to years. Accepting this made it tolerable for me.

I hope that you find your way back man. Even though you're a gump...just kidding. Seriously, I hope you do.

If it's any consolation to you, it took me 10 years of on again/off again sobriety and relapses until the light bulb finally went off for me on what the frick I wanted to do with my life. I could kick the shite out of myself for basically wasting 10 years of my life, and everything about me is 10 years behind the norm of my age group. But, it is what it is.

Here's my cheesy catch phrase for you. I actually read it today: you may be powerless but you're not helpless.

I am very open about being a former/recovering addict and alcoholic. Everything besides heroin, crack and pcp. I did everything else legal and illegal. My sober date is June 11, 2012. I just celebrated 7 years and it feels amazing. I never thought in a million years I would be able to do it and now I find myself getting aggrivated from time to time for not doing it sooner. I will always be here for anyone that needs someone to talk to about it. Good luck to anyone struggling right now. If someone like me could do it, you can too.
