The pecker envy is pretty stout here in Ruston as well with the LaTech folk
I posted this exact same idea last year at this time. I think it’s a great idea.
Thank you sir for the kind words and congratulations.

Now allow me to retort:

quote:

--the "one drink, and you're back to square one!!!"

In 15 years of attending AA, giving recovery talks all over the Southern United States, and attending thousands of meetings spanning several countries, I have never once heard this phrase. Perhaps you have been misinformed. I do understand what you are trying to say with this, but it's a rather obtuse and short sighted take. While one drink may necessitate the resetting of a sobriety date, it absolutely does not mean, that you are back to square one and all is lost. Many Many Many people, in fact probably most folks in sobriety have had "slips", including myself, picked up right where we left off in the program, and went on to long term sobriety and quality recovery. The phrase which you provided, is far from accurate in terms of how the program of recovery works.

quote:

--alcoholism is a "disease"

So... while the program of AA agrees with this, the Disease Theory of Alcoholism is not an AA thing. The Theory AND it's Genetic component is accepted by every major medical association in the world, including the largest association of physicians, the American Medical Association. I have been and will continue to defer to them on the issue. Perhaps they know a bit more than the both of us.

However, I'm not here and it's not my intention to convince YOU of anything. Rather, I just want folks to know that if they are struggling with alcoholism, that there is something out there that just might be for them. It was for me and millions of others, and it saved our lives. It is absolutely a viable solution.

quote:

AA has a terrible track record and the numbers don't lie

This is a statement if pure ignorance. I have been in the program for 15 years, and I have never once seen a single person fail who has actually practiced the program properly.
I agree with everything pwejr88 is saying. I been sponsoring that dude since his day 1 and he knows what he’s talking about and what he’s doing.

You would truly be amazed at how many people are walking around sober alcoholics, even many that you already know.

Regarding sleep…I’ve been taking Trazadone for 15 years, since I got sober. It’s very helpful and totally safe for us.

I’ll say this about sobriety…I was at the Alabama game. When time expired, I tossed my 7 year old on my shoulders, and ran down the stairs with my 17 year old right behind me. We hopped the fence and made one of the very best memories of my entire life…STONE COLD SOBER. I felt everything and remembered all. Sobriety only served to wildly enrich this experience.

Life is so much better without the drink. EVERYTHING in my life is better because of sobriety

For their first away game. Looking for suggestions for pregame festivities/tailgating. Thanks in advance.

My compliments to the Students…

You showed up, you punched in, and you hated your asses off last night. You made me damn proud to be a Tiger!!!
Went to Gainesville when I was a kid and I will absolutely NEVER EVER go back to that garbage place with that sub-human fan base. It wasn't like just a few of them...it was all of them.
Couple thoughts to consider:

Bech was coming off a leg injury and limited in play for the first 3 games; and Boutte missed a game, has a crappy attitude, and has dropped like 10 balls already including 2 touchdowns that are the difference between 4-1 and 5-0 right now.

We will be fine.
September 14 will be 14 years sober for me. Best decision I ever made. Well…much like you there wasn’t much of a decision. It was quit or drink myself to death. I chose life…it turned into I life I could have never imagined.

It’s very very doable.

I was wondering the same. We ordered Arky tickets as well. Thanks for posting

Post Season Suggestion

Posted by pennoyer on 12/22/21 at 1:58 pm
If all non playoff bowl games are meaningless exhibition games…then why not move them to the beginning of the following year as a preseason exhibition game that does not count against the W/L record. The reward would be the extra practices and tune up game awarded by the success of the previous year. This would cure the bowl game “opt-outs” and give the bowl game some inherent value. The post season would be opened up for a significant playoff expansion

The actual beginning of the season can be shifted accordingly. All teams who make the playoffs would be permitted the same number of extra preseason practices as the other bowl eligible teams and have the option of scheduling a preseason exhibition game as they so choose.

Just a thought
Kelly’s shtick is about the same as Saban’s. He stresses the process, relationships and accountability just like any championship caliber coach should. He’ll be fine.
1982 season when we went to the Orange Bowl and Lost to Nebraska…I was 8 years old and cried after we lost to Miss State. I realized then and there the futility of being so emotionally attached to the outcome of something that I literally no control over…by realized, I mean my old man “encouraged” me to quit acting like such a f-Ing pansy. I never cried again over a Tiger game. I been loving this team for as long as I remember, but never shed a tear since then.
