re: How Many People Do You Know that Were Bitten by a Venomous Snake?

Got bitten by brown recluse spiders twice. Both times the magic elixir was a high end essential oil my wife has called Purification. I mean it stopped the necro spread in its tracks. But you have to apply it a couple of times per day until it's completely healed. Even the tiniest bot of poison will start killing flesh again.

We live in the Florida parishes and have killed moccasins, copperheads, and several 5-6 ft long canebrake rattlers on our property. No bites except my old late golden retriever got hit in the face and survived.

My brother in law 2 years ago got bit by a small ground ratter in his garage. He said it was pretty painful ,but he ended up okay and was in the hospital for a day.

Suprisingly, I know none. Most of my family are farmers that hunt, so they live their life outside in rural settings most of the time. I can’t think of even a close call,

A coworker told me about a friend of his who was walking back to his truck after hunting and was bitten on the face by a snake in a tree. He got in his truck, looked in the mirror and felt himself dying. He woke up a little later and found out it was non-venomous.

1. Bit on foot wearing flops by a copperhead.

One - a copperhead in Buckhead, Georgia. She was walking in open-toed sandals at dusk and never saw it.

I stepped on (or else right next to) a cottonmouth, but luckily it did not strike me and just took off. Scared the bejeebus out of me.

Friend of mine in Ms. plants watermelons and has a variety of tools he uses to keep the deer away. One of which is a scarecrow with a radio blaring music at night in the field. After he picked the field, he went back and grabbed all of his anti-deer repellants. The scarecrow was laying down, and he reached down to pick it up, and a copperhead hit him on one of his fingers. I mean a miniscule bite. He goes back to his house and it's starting to swell and throb. He goes to Picayune to the Dr. and they give him some pain meds and send him home. If the swelling continues up his arm, then come back. Well, it does. He goes back to the hospital, and they say since it's been over four hours since the bite, they can't give him the antidote for the bite. WTF! So, he goes to Hattiesburg hospital, and they observe him for a couple of hours after giving him some more pain medicine. The Drs tell him there is nothing they can do, it's just a waiting game from now on. The Dr. told him he was lucky the snake didn't get all of its venom in him and that it was a copperhead instead of a rattler or cottonmouth. Took several days for the swelling to go down, but it did.
