I see people mentioning spiders. Possibly a brown recluse as a kid. Something got my leg and it got infected and the area was red and nasty and grew fast covering alot of my thigh. Never felt it happen but we were playing in the woods. Had to go daily to pediatrician for a penicillin shot for a week or nearly a week.

They didn’t go to the doctor when they noticed/felt something strange over the next day or two? The venom can’t possibly work that fast unless you neglect the bite. Maybe it can.

Around 7-8 in the past 2 years. But they were all either trying to catch the snake (or looking for other snakes). The worst was around 16 days in the ICU and 88 vials of anti-venin. The most recent one was a bite from a Sonoran coral a couple weeks ago - the only one I know bitten while free-handling a catch.
Incidentally, I just got back from a TX/AZ trip and caught 59 rattlesnakes (8 different species). 79 snakes/21 species in total.
ETA: I haven’t been bitten by a venomous snake yet, but did take a bite from a baby gila monster on last month’s Arizona trip.

There was a several acre patch of blackberries a short walk from where I grew up. My brother's and I would get dispatched by our mom to go pick a gallon or more and she'd make cobbler and preserves or jelly. Same place had wild groves of plum trees and we'd get those, too. But one day, our friend, Tommy, got bit by copperhead while picking berries for his mom. He lost his big toe on the foot that got bit by the snake.
After that, whenever mom would make blackberry jam we would affectionately call it Tommy' Toe Jam.

Copperhead bit me on my foot right at 2 years ago. Went to ER, but was a non issue. A little bit of swelling and lost range of motion for about a month. No anti-venom needed.

Only set of Foster parents I had were horrible and only cared about their check. I had a broken arm for three days once. Did not get to a doctor until my sixth grade teacher and vice principal took me to the ER.

It was a dry bite. I had a leather glove on that hand, and it did puncture through the glove and draw blood but apparently no venom got through. And it was a quick bite - it didn’t clamp down and hold on like they are prone to do.
Whereas snakes have fangs that are like hypodermic needles, gila venom travels down an external groove along the tooth.
I know of a couple other bites on friends of friends - one just had severe pain for a day, and the other (groin bite) had nausea and diarrhea for a day.

Friend of my oldest son lives in North Carolina and walked out onto his front porch and landed on a copperhead. He spent three days in the hospital and said it was the worst thing he's ever experienced.
there were two very big copperheads on my parents front porch a few years back, my dad killed them both because my kids were up visiting and he didn't want anything to happen to them. duh. But now my mom makes him "relocate them"... I still think he might be killing them.
My foot landed about two inches from a juvenile water moccasin a few months ago in Galveston. It was about a foot long and had a green tail still. I was in flip flops. I see water moccasins all the time down there. I also saw a HUGE rattlesnake in the dunes once. It was as fatter than a bicycle tire. I was in my car leaving the beach at the time, so was fascinated more than scared by it. Also a neighbor down in Gtown lost their dog to a rattle snake bite this year. A big lab was running alongside their golf cart and I guess stepped on a snake in the grass next to the road. The property has dozens of Peacocks on it, apparently kept because they eat venomous snakes.
Ive seen Texas coral snakes in Memorial Park on three occasions. Once my dog was off leash on the trails and stepped all over the top of one in the middle of the trail. It didn't do anything.. slithered off.
So one person and one neighbor dog. Several close calls.

I was bitten by a pygmy rattlesnake in high school. Spent several hours in the ER but they determined it wasn’t going to kill me so I didn’t receive anti-venom.

My old GF was certainly a snake.
She bit me, more than once.
She was full of venom.
Does this count?
