I spend a week every September at a friend's condo in Destin, the trashiest people I see down there every year, by far, are all wearing LSU gear

Bought a condo in Perdido 2011 pre construction for 480. Currently 2.4. When this stops going up people will quit

They are still appreciating. I bought a one bedroom in 2014 for $199K and similar ones in the same complex list for $550K plus now.

Peak 2026 society is stuff like this where a place like Orange Beach is passed off as desirable. Orange Beach was always the place you went when you wanted a cheap beach trip and knew it wouldn’t be as nice as Florida down the road.

Hate it and love it. Loved the low key vibes 15 years ago. 2.5 hours from Nola still makes me happy.

I will take Grand Isle or shitty water beach in Biloxi.

But 4.50 to cross the Leeville Bridge is dumb. It was okay when it started at 2.75. It is 5.40 if you don’t have a GeauxPass.

Getting a boat down there is worse. Nearly 11 dollars for a single axle boat, jumps to 22 if you have a double axle.

I did see Orange Beach does have a new way to cross and they finally dropped the toll on Baldwin Beach Bridge and added another bridge over the Intracoastal and made both bridges one way and added some traffic “lawsuit” circles to manage the traffic to the new bridge.

Helena Moreno’s sister had piles of lawsuits and discovery coming out on Kennon including the night he was naked on the balcony of City property beating his wife. Should be fun to watch her follow the money trail. She has them squirming. Latest is the City stopped fighting after spending over 50k in legal fees for Tony.

This is the type of “how the turntables” posts that keeps me checking this site.

Ruined Orange Beach. Why anyone would stay in any of the larger condos is beyond me.

How many stories are considered a high rise?

My sister-in-law booked us one and I’m currently typing from the 23rd floor. It goes up to 32. It’s a fancy place with a ton of things for the kids so I can’t complain too much, but I’ve never stayed anywhere this high up. Couple pool side bars help too.

I miss the old Orange Beach of 30-35 years ago that was just the Flora Bama and a few low rise condos in the area and the yacht club back on the bay. It wasn't the crowded zoo it is now

It’s just as cheap, and less hassle to go on a cruise than sit in traffic near the beach. I’m not talking about Carnival cruises, either. My wife is a 10 year+ travel agent, I know the score.

Yup. There was a time when you got a house in Orange Beach or Perdido Key to escape Gulf Shores.

I’m about to buy a house on Dauphin Island just to avoid that mess.

When I lived in Pensacola 20 years ago we went to OB to get away. Its no longer a getaway.

Cool story. I was naive to sand life and turned my 2wd truck into some sand while turning on 98. Got my arse stuck. Some locals helped me and I got out quick before the cops showed up to give me a ride.

I live in Gulf Shores and only venture to OB when absolutely necessary. Never between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Besides Condos the Mayor was pushing through a Dolly Parton Pirates dinner theater. Some council members claimed they had no idea. Town hall meeting was called that turned out to be very entertaining. Lots of crawfishing.

Had a friend from BR text a few days ago and ask when did OB become more expensive than Destin.
