All you have to do is say “Hey, frickface! Stay on your side of the property line.”
If he’s really your friend, he’ll laugh at you calling him frickface, and he’ll stop cutting your grass.

Go raise his lawn mower deck when he is not looking.

some of the best things you can have in life are good neighbors. Don't screw it up over thicker grass on the side of your house.

I will take the free trim over an uncut neighbors lawn any day.

Just round-up that portion of the yard. Now neither of you will have to cut it

Hey bro. I like to walk on grass in my yard not hairy dirt. Raise your mower and cut the whole yard or just leave it alone. Thanks. Want a beer

“I really appreciate that you take the time to cut the second on my side. It super cool of you and makes me proud to have you as a neighbor. Right now, I’m trying to work the grass in that area. I’ll just cut it for now. Again thanks. Think the Tigers will beat Arkansas tonight?”

What is it with Woody Harrelson and people mowing his lawn? Thought he was going to slit Rust Cohle's throat that one time.

I think this calls for piss balloons. It’s the most civilized option really.

I’ll start by saying that my next door neighbors are great people and we hang out often. Whenever they cut before I do, they cut my side of the property in between our houses. I appreciate the gesture, but the problem is that they cut it too low and scalp the shite out of the grass. How do I politely let them know without being offensive or ruining a great friendship? I try beating them to the punch but it isn’t always feasible with my job.
Just ask them, it's really not that hard.
The way our property line runs there is about a 1-2-foot section of yard between my driveway and where my neighbor's property starts.
She didn't want that section to be offset from her yard nor did she want my mowing to have to force her to mow (or vice versa) so she offered to mow that whole section.
Instead I told her I would mow the part where her fence was (you can't see that part from the road and it's essentially just weed-eating around her fence) and she could mow the rest.
Easy-peasy.
