Mine's just sitting on the counter like I'm some 1970s heathen, but I tend to agree.

Double garage with a center post and 2 doors instead of one big door
I did this when we built our house intentionally to keep my wife on her side of garage. Otherwise, she would be in the middle with no room left for me.

Icemakers belong in the freezer not in some box in the fridge.

This. We remodeled our office about 5 years ago and have been through 3 icemakers and on our second fridge because of the hassle.

I'll add Pot Fillers above the stove. I've built 2 houses and put one in for both houses. Never used it in the last 7 years. Is it really that hard to move a pot 4' from the sink to the stove? Maybe its good for really old people?

nah. those are awesome.

we put one in with the remodel and it's great. it drains well. only complaint may be that it takes a while to fill up because you're filling up a huge tub.

The fail rate for icemaker in modern French for fridges is very high. Samsung is near 100% failure within 5 years

I'd have to check the brand of my mom's (pretty sure it's not Samsung), but yeah. Ice maker has been replaced about 3 times in 10 years for various reasons.

I really don't understand the very concept of the small burners
You're trying to heat the pot or pan; not the handle. If you're cooking with a small pan, the big burners are bigger than the base of the cookware. Makes the handle a bit hot to hold.

My fiancée was all about these when we were renovating our kitchen last year. Luckily I was able to convince her that it's extremely easy to turn on the faucet even with dirty or full hands (it's a lever, not a knob), and that the touch feature would only cause problems once the electronics inevitably started failing.
This brings up a good point - it's dumb that they don't have an off switch so that you can opt to not always use the touch "feature" if you don't want to.

I had the opposite experience. I moved from French doors to the one with the freezer on the bottom and I feel like I’m constantly shoving things around to force the drawer to close. I can’t find anything without emptying the top layer.

I do like that my fridge space is larger now, but I’m considering a standalone chest freezer for the frozen issues.
Bottom freezer drawer can take a bit of getting used to - but you have the correct solution: a separate freezer chest.

Longitudinally divided refrigerator/freezers - i.e. 2 big French doors. When compared to the modern French door top fridge and bottom freezer drawer design, these just don't make any sense.

Only 1 I disagree with. Before I was OT rich, and could afford the 60" fridge/freezer, we had the french door with bottom freezer. Things get lost at the bottom due to stacking.

We have one of these and I fricking hate it. One of these days I'm going to rip that bastard out and replace it with one big sink.

I did this a few months ago and love it. Divided sinks are fricking stupid....not being able to put a large skillet or pan in the sink to soak because it doesn’t fit will never be a problem again.

"Rain" showers

I have one and an angled head. We have a big shower, so I don't have to sit under it, but it's nice when I want some hot arse water to rain down on me.

"Touch" faucets

Meh, I would never buy one but if I bought a house with one in it, it would be a neat feature. Sometimes I have something all over my hands and would be convenient to have the touch.

Square kitchen sinks

Not sure I've ever seen one, but sounds purely aesthetic.
quote:

Kitchen sinks with half-wall dividers and/or with a tiny side

Hate them and will never have one. Give me one giant sink all day.

Tiny burners on a gas stove

Not really sure what the big deal is with this one.

Longitudinally divided refrigerator/freezers

Cool in the 80s, dumb now, especially if you have an outside or pantry deep freezer.

Double garage with a center post and 2 doors instead of one big door

I would only want this if I could put a wall between them, do woodworking on one side and not have saw dust all over everything like I do now.

We're doing a 4' fridge freezer combo for our renovation. Im looking forward to being able to see everything in the fridge and not losing stuff in the back of either. We also plan to have an upright freezer in our laundry and our old side by side fridge out in the workshop.

Tons of space for frozen stuff and beer.

Meh.... I have a 46' wide triple car garage with 12' wide doors and if I only had a two car it would be 32' wide with two 12' doors. So to each his on.
