Definitely agree on this. Just dumb.

Longitudinally divided refrigerator/freezers - i.e. 2 big French doors

I gotta agree on this one. I just had to have one the first time I bought my own fridge because of the ice and water on the freezer door.

I hated it immediately. There just wasn't enough room for everything. It was like playing Tetris to try and make it all fit after a trip to the grocery store.

Everyone seems most upset about this one, but doesn't the center piece in that case become structural, allowing you to have two smaller lintels?

I would think if it was one big door (with one long-span lintel), it might require support posts inside the garage?

I’ve seen under-counter microwaves touted as a more refined element and I don’t get it. Why would I want to have to bend over every time I use the microwave?

Because people don’t want to lose counter space for a microwave. Also it’s the first appliance young kids learn to use and it helps their reach.

Kitchen sinks with half-wall dividers and/or with a tiny side

We have one of these and I fricking hate it. One of these days I'm going to rip that bastard out and replace it with one big sink.

These are for small pots. You don't want the flames coming up over the sides and heating up the handle.

Yeah, frick these. I would never buy a house with this design. There's a 100% chance my wife would hit that center post at some point.

Not usually.

I agree with every one of OPs points. Anything that turns on with a touch is bound to malfunction.

I don't like modern French door units.

Icemakers belong in the freezer not in some box in the fridge. The fail rate for icemaker in modern French for fridges is very high. Samsung is near 100% failure within 5 years.

For some reason, this has always gotten on my nerves.

i was just looking at a house the other day with this set up and was wondering what was wrong with the owners that did this.

"Touch" faucets
My fiancée was all about these when we were renovating our kitchen last year. Luckily I was able to convince her that it's extremely easy to turn on the faucet even with dirty or full hands (it's a lever, not a knob), and that the touch feature would only cause problems once the electronics inevitably started failing.

I will add the $100k worth of outdoor kitchen. I don’t get it.

I can only imagine where my wife's car would end up in the garage otherwise.

I second this. My wife would just park in the middle or over just enough where I couldn't park there too. It also allows for more room in between the cars. It does take some time getting use to it, though.

I had the opposite experience. I moved from French doors to the one with the freezer on the bottom and I feel like I’m constantly shoving things around to force the drawer to close. I can’t find anything without emptying the top layer.

I do like that my fridge space is larger now, but I’m considering a standalone chest freezer for the frozen issues.

I've had houses with each. I preferred the double garage with two doors.

Because doors are only so wide. You can put two large doors on and have a really wide garage instead of squeezing in and out of vehicle

That’s almost certainly a ground issue. Really easy to fix. Like barely harder than changing the battery.

I'm not an electrician so can you please explain how battery powered device has a ground? There's a positive and negative. Are you saying that the negative side wiring is bad? I'm really ignorant so explain it to me with that in mind...
