On a scale of 1 to fricked, how fricked is my home in Tampa on the water?

Well, the 9' surge is currently at a 10% chance. If that were to come to be, it depends on the height of your home. But it isn't good.

And you might see some storm surge mapping that'll show you how far inland it might reach.

I'd say reach around with a nice tug job, but it could quickly turn into a gang-bang with no lube pretty fast.

The NHC has a very informative and comprehensive map viewer for any location on the Gulf Coast. It will let you set the storm Cat. (1,2,3..) and zoom into specific neighborhoods and streets.

Do notice wording nuance: informative and comprehensive, not informative and reassuring...

I’m on the backside of LBK. I feel like they always over exaggerate the surge, but we always got lucky with the path.

AMI would be completely under water with a minimal surge.

probably cause nashville is 450 miles inland and your inconvenience is low priority to big picture here.

I am by no means trying to make light of any potential plight of those on the coast.

This is a storm forecast thread, and I merely posed a question asking if a trip to Tennessee was still worth it. I'm not at all alluding to Helene still being a major weather event that far inland. Just asking for opinions.

Geez people.

Even if the wind isn't bad, it looks like a shite load of rain. Not exactly ideal for a weekend getaway.

Thank you for a civil response.

Going to depend on landfall point, obv. Right now, Id expect a fair bit of surge with the size of the storm but probably on levels you've seen before. It gets down toward Cedar Key and things start getting dodgy for Tampa, given the size we'll be dealing with.

I thought I was on Reddit for a sec.
