or maybe Massie isn't being sarcastic and is just launching a new career in journalism with Bob Woodward as his hospital bed confessions role model.

The consideration of whether oil companies, environmentalists and politicians have combined to come up with a better use of YOUR property and tax dollars should logically (for conservatives) come even before the debates about whether they can be done safely. Which should certainly also happen.

Maybe the fact that oil companies are now for carbon capture ('cause tax dollars) makes people think it is a score against the enviro crowd and their anti business agenda and so it is a score for the economy and citizens.

But in reality it seems the environmentalists have helped the oil industry gain an easier path to eminent domain of private property for pipelines AND get paid by us to store carbon underground, which the oil industry always said was harmless to be released into the atmosphere.

Funny, since our politicians have decided that taxpayers should pay oil and gas producers to store carbon, they now seem to agree with the left that it is a problem in the atmosphere.

The Grand Inquisitor chapter of the Bros. Karamazov has a depth of insight that goes beyond Dostoevsky's satire indicting churches that embrace earthly power.

But he indicts them very well.

A gem among them is the Grand Inquisitor scolding Christ for giving people the choice to believe by feigning concern over the inability of mankind to make the right decision.

The Grand Inquisitor chastises Christ for rejecting earthly power, making it a choice to believe, treating man as His brother and dying on a cross to free believers from guilt without the need for rituals, thus making it hard for any statist church to claim dominion over His believers.

Thanks to his satire on the motives of Church hierarchy Dostoevsky inspires a more subtle, lasting thought: No power-seeking entity of this earth would invent Christianity and perpetuate it as presented in the Gospels.

It behooves no one but those of Faith to pass on Christ's teachings.

Thus, the Gospel surviving through the hands of corrupt Popes is something of a miracle in itself.
