re: Former Team USA medalist gunned down in Starbucks drive-thru
Posted by DeCat ODahouse on 2/16/26 at 9:40 am to Proximo
quote:
A skating coach and former U.S. Figure Skating competitor was shot and killed in a Starbucks drive-thru in St. Louis on Tuesday morning by a man suspected of committing two other robberies in the days leading up to the slaying.
As sad and despicable as the crime against Nancy Guthrie seems to be, this should get twice the news coverage
In the case of this poor murdered figure skater in St. Louis, the criminal was known to law enforcement for robbing in the area while waving a gun.
The linked article merely quotes a vague bureaucracy-speak response as to why there was not more done to warn the public, the journalist never pushes harder, let alone asks why a known perp was not in jail.
Meanwhile, in 2017 the same city underwent "mostly peaceful protests" for days when a convicted criminal out on probation was shot after ramming a police car.
The same media who has suddenly gone timid in questioning police work in St Louis now, at that time helped give the "protests" a beard of legitimacy by running ceaseless stories about the nuances of whether the police should have shot a drug suspect who reached under his dashboard instead of putting his hands up.

re: AOC destroys Rubio's Career with this interview
Posted by DeCat ODahouse on 2/15/26 at 7:42 pm to FLTech
Merely calling AOC stupid does not combat her influence, because though very likely valid, the term will not ring true to her constituents.
AOC and her backers pander to an audience that has been trained by teachers, the MSM and Hollywood to immediately accept any narrative that rejects actual history and replaces it with a fictional DEI version.
AOC is like the pied piper with generations of kids following after her down a bad path. And, especially in the case of public school teachers/ Academia, we are the ones paying for it do be done.

Thanks for the burger rec, Hang, even if it's in another state, somehow knowing there's a good burger out there on the horizon is uplifting.

Any idea which refinery it originated from?
FWIW- According to a Gemini AI search
In January 2026, the tanker Hellespont Protector loaded approximately 460,000 barrels of naphtha from Pasadena, Texas, for delivery to Venezuela.
It also listed these Naphtha exporting refineries that ship out of that port:
Terminal: Kinder Morgan Pasadena Pasadena, TX
Refiners- Marathon, Phillips 66, ExxonMobil
Terminal: ITC Pasadena Pasadena, TX
Major hub for Vitol and Trafigura trades

Lanier, in honor of Friday, gotta amp up your Zep mellow
We come from the land of the ice and snow
From the midnight sun where the hot springs flow
The hammer of the gods
Will drive our ships to new lands
To fight the horde and sing and cry
Valhalla, I am coming :dude:

Cold front just passing thru my part of S La, days like this are fun to randomly check weather in points north.
Forecast for Traverse City MI for basically the next 5 days.
Only variation-nights are colder:
Snow, Freezing Fog and Breezy 26°F
Wind Speed NW 21 G 35 mph
Wind Chill 12°F (-11°C)
Kinda takes a bit of the sting out of having to endure our summers
