That last ICON run is really bad if you're a Tamponian. From Wxman on storm2k, "could push over 20 feet of water into Tampa Bay". It's just one run, but shite.

Alexandra has a bun in the oven and is on maternity leave. Won't be seeing her.

What makes his question relevant is the hook back to the NW, taking it over that area, potentially still a TS with that 23mph movement. It's about as relevant a question as any other type of tropical impact during a landfall.

Hope it doesn't affect the opening of Tampa Bay Downs in November.

It’ll be interesting to see which models win out.

I don’t even know how to process an 889.

That’s just stupidity to even post that. 20’ surge is not going into Tampa just like the 888mb will materialize.

Edit….not you, the Wxman.

He's a very low key, seasoned professional meteorologist. If he posts something alarming like that, most people listen. He's the last guy to hype up any system. He's only referencing the ICON (one run), but if that trough kicks further east, you'll see more east adjusted tracks for future Helene.

I figured that.

That would have to be a Gulf record, right?

I get it. I know who he is. He’s trying to get everyone’s attention because this is sneaking up on many but he looks like an alarmist with that post.

Pinpoint eye there on HAFSB

You just dont see that in the Gulf

Wilma had it in the WCab and Patricia in the EPac but not sure a Gulf storm has ever had it

If the mb is below 900 you are talking about pretty much the strongest storm ever in the Atlantic Basin. Only a handful have been down there

the Icon model is significantly weaker than other models are showing. It’s showing a low end cat 2- track would be bad enough though with even ‘just’ cat 2 winds and surge.

So why are they doomcasting this horrible, rare storm again?

Any particular hard evidence?

I aint calling for a 5, right now.

But going over deep warm water, gonna take a deep breath in as it goes over that. Gets organized fast enough, sub 900 isnt ridiculous.

Its obvious the ceiling is extremely high on this one.
