No wonder the state is ranked 50/50. Too stupid to look up and see that I haven't had a Louisiana drivers license in a decade and have been registered to vote in 2 other states since.

In 2022 I had to go to the physical court house in Avoyelles Parish to prove to them I had moved out of the parish in 2006.

It's wild.

I think registration purge laws are fricked here due to the Voting Rights Acts of the 1960s.

Can’t purge old records of dead and moved easily because of red tape tied to those laws.

I honestly think I’d just ignore them.

Seriously, what are they gonna do, come find you? They think you still live there.

My problem is I go back to Avoyelles parish every year. Last thing I need is to be driving in with my kids and get pulled over for speeding and go to jail because I ignored a jury summons.

Subtle “I have a friend” flex noted.

Literally

Do you think this is a Louisiana only problem?

Also, the obligatory it's not a flaw, it's a feature fits here

That’s valid, yeah I’d clear that up in that case.

I got a random Louisiana voter ID card update yesterday. Along with a former resident that hasn't lived there in at least 10 years, might even be dead from what I can tell.

Feel a jury summons is coming.

You won’t go to jail because you didn’t show up for jury duty.

There isn’t space for someone who didn’t go to jury duty.

Same thought as people who are scared of the red light cameras and how it may affect their credit or something silly like that. Just don’t pay it. It doesn’t do anything.

Get a doctor's excuse that you're not fit for jury duty ever and send it back with the Louisiana summons... something like you can't sit for 8+ hours at a time.

We had some people that skipped Jury Duty on the Jury Duty thread. Nothing happened. No cops making you do tests that you will fail drunk or sober. No fines. Nothing

But every state’s voter rolls are completely legitimate and shouldn’t even be questioned.

Five years ago my wife sent in a letter from her eye doctor saying she is legally blind...she still gets jury duty notices. Each time she will mail a copy of the letter back to them and throw the notice in the trash.
