I don't know what parish that was in, but that's not how it is in Webster (extreme NW LA) Parish. A guy failed to show up for jury duty. Judge sent Deputy Sheriff to get him. The Deputy brought him back while jury selection was still going. The guy said it would cause a hardship at his job for him to serve on the jury. He went through the jury selection process, was seated on the jury, and served the full 5 days to the trial's completion at 7 PM Friday night.
