re: Finding a common ancestor on both sides when doing ancestry

When the geneology book of Pierre Baillio famiy came out in the 60’s my father was 5th or 6th gen descendant(don’t remember exactly).
My mother was 1 generation further down the line.
3 of my classmates were also in the book so they were distant cousins.
The descendant on my father side was in Rapides parish,the one on my mother’s side was in Crowley..
There were 6,000 in the book when it came out (my father,mother,myself and 2 sisters were in it twice).
By now,65 years later the descendants of Pierre Bailio has to be in the hundreds of thousands.
