Dude has to be some kind of military operator to be so calm.
It seems to me that’s not the worst situation he’s ever been in

The way he's so casual about shooting himself in the leg is crazy
Combination of adrenaline and euphoria that he survived a bear attack. He could be a badass too but those 2 factors can help you zone the pain out.

He’s a badass regardless if he took down an adult brown bear with a pistol without being mauled to death in the process.

Couldn't he have just shot the bear in the leg?

10mm pistol is no joke.
Smart move carrying that in that area.

Alaska doesn’t allow you to keep it. You’re supposed to skin it, cut the head off, and turn it in.
So what do they do with them?
What’s the rationale here? Is it a deal to discourage everyone from killing bears “in self defense”?

He’s very fortunate. Shooting a charging bear isn’t usually possible.

Wild Alaska. Brown Bears? Lots of brown bears. I'm not surprised. Alaska is for bears to roam. Not for men to hike. Why the hell did he bring a gun? To shoot bears if he was attacked.

feel bad for the bear, but it had to be done.
I don't, circle of life brah
If you want a piece of something (in this case a human) be prepared for the consequences

So he shot himself in one leg and bit by bear in the other? No wonder he didn't run away.

I've been meaning to buy a 10mm in case climate change ever pushes those things down South.
I got a 10mm semi this spring. Seems to be the go to bear backup gun of late for guides.
This guy had incredible presence of mind to fire when being attacked. Most people dont have time to react or go into shock. I know two guys that have been mauled over the past 5 years or so.

Pretty soon tOT is gonna be nothing but twitter links.
Yeah, I guess I'm old or whatever, but it sucks. If I wanted to scroll twitter or comment on twitter content, I'd be on twitter.
