What about this is going to drag down students any more than having AP students and special Ed students in the same classroom to begin with?
To start with Individual learning plans. YOu want 30 concurrent plans going on with no real way to measure learning, or even to know when certain students will master it? That's one fricked up classroom.
Remedial students usually have ILPs to begin with, and that's not easy to manage. Now, you're throwing in a bunch of subjective shite?

Absolutely, and for this, I empathize with public school teachers. Minimum 50%, unlimited extensions, and the inability to expel kids for being little shits is killing public education.

Fail them, let them keep trying.
Seems more reasonable than tying up all of your resources on a few people.

This is so very dumb.

How many chances do you give kids?

How do you mange lesson plans with such a warped system?

How do you measure learning?

How do you hold anyone accountible?
I think there is a hybrid approach that is workable, but honestly, I think good educators have been finding ways to implement that for decades.

Oh absolutely.
Its retarded, and just to placate a few "activist."

Where is it being said that all other students will be held back because of one or a few students inadequacies?

I’m not advocating for that. In fact, I’ve advocated against that in this thread. I don’t think the teacher should spend an extra minute of general class time going back over old material for individual students. The lesson plan should go on. But if a kid wants to study on their time, or come in for extra time with the teacher, etc, and then retake a previous assignment with a now increased level of mastery, why is that a bad thing?
Because having a single tanked exam grade can blow a semester. And once that happens, what’s the incentive for those borderline kids to do better going forward?
Again, what is our goal in regards to mandatory education?

How would you measure success?
How would you deal with failure?
How much time do you want to spend with ONE student at the expense of everyone else?

No. Numbers are the best way to quantify achievement.
What we should have is a standardized, non multiple choice test given at the beginning and end of all school years blindly graded by teachers the week before and the week after school.
Yes it’s more work for teachers. Yes it’s more work for students, but it’s probably the best way to gauge achievement.

Just so I’m clear – the Democrats have been running virtually every inner-city school system for about 60 years. And now they want to claim that there is systemic racism in the schools.
Hmmmmmmmmm..... from a purely plain common f*cking sense perspective, there’s only one conclusion to be drawn – Democrats are a bunch of virolent f*cking RACIST.

Classrooms have been using alternative testing for different learners for decades. One of the first things you learn in any pedagogy is various learning styles and how to reach them.
But now, they want no accountability? frick that.

Fwiw, none of my posts have advocated for the system of the op. They’ve been quite the opposite. I do, however, recognize some value in focusing on the actual learning as opposed to a sole focus on the traditional grading scale.
