It’s less about every kid getting a trophy and more about making sure we educate kids as much as we can while we have them as a captive audience.
Yes, lets placate those that don't value education at the expense of those who do. Typical left wing drivel. LEts save everyone even if the successful suffer!
I hope this destroys public education. You absolutely have to have OBJECTIVE learning benchmarks.
It sounds like you people want to make all schools "alternative schools" whether people excel in it or not.

Right. We’re not talking about entrusting a 15 yr old with executing a the framework of building a skyscraper. They’re talking about writing papers and learning algebra.

I don’t believe this is on point, at all. If the kids are going back to retake assignments and exams, how does that show they don’t value education? If a kid doesn’t give a shite, they don’t retake the assignment and they fail. How does this affect the other kids?

What happened to putting in the work to pass it the first time, if you can do the work to pass it the 2nd time, then why couldn't you do it the first time?

Have you ever managed a classroom? With AP students, special ed students and regular students? There is no fricking way you have..
It just another marxist fairy tale that take us all to the bottom.

The current system of education in America isn’t working. Go look for yourself on how far it’s dropped comparative to other countries. You’re cool with continuing that? Without change?

The goal is to base grades on what students are learning, and remove behavior, deadlines and how much work they do from the equation.
That's awesome, because employers don't give a warm crap about any of those things.

This is typical nonsense tossed out by those not living in the real world of education currently. The assumptions that they will study more and that they are a captive audience are completely erroneous.

What happens here is teachers spend 80% of the time on 20% of the students who most likely should be in alternative school, while every other student suffers.
All your recourses go to these kids who retake work over and over.

I understand why an idealist would agree with some of this. In principle, it kinda makes some sense.
Problem is… we live in the real world, and the reality is that all this will change is how many failing students are documented. This is a move to shield the education system from blame. Nothing more.
Just as many kids (or more) will be uneducated and ill prepared for life. There just won’t be a paper trail. In fact, they’ll get the same diploma as the kids who earned it.

So basically removing all the accountability many of these kids have these days since there is little to none in the homes? Let's see how that works out for our society.

Just moving on to the next topic doesn’t accomplish the goal of educating for those that did poorly the first time through. There is certainly value to what you are suggesting.

Nothing like dumbing everything down to the lowest common denominator. They will be consequences down the road though I'm not sure if anyone really cares any more, or very few

This idea that everything that has been working well for the previous 100+ years is somehow now wrong is insanity.
