I think we all already know what the outcome of this would be

As if America needs to "dumb down" our kids any more than they already have.

This idea that everything that has been working well for the previous 100+ years is somehow now wrong is insanity.
Modern education hasn't been around for 100+ years. What is required of students has gradually transitioned from general education (where kids learned reading/writing/arithmetic and life skills like home ec and shop) to a "college readiness" curriculum as if every human is moving in that direction. They most certainly are not.
We actually don't do a great job of educating all citizens. We have an industrial, conveyor belt style of teaching that doesn't address a student's unique needs and talents.
Some kids just need basic reading, math, and some life planning and marketable job skills. Others are destined for multiple college degrees. The idea that they all need the same high school curriculum is silly. If our goal is truly to educate, we do need to make some changes in how we do things.

Classrooms have been using alternative testing for different learners for decades.
But as you know, this is typically only for students with diagnosed deficiencies. The general problem here is the "regular" students who get lost in the cracks.
The AP and honors kids are going to rock and roll anyway, whether the teacher is there or not, and the SPED kids are going to get extra assistance all day long. It's the others who get lost.

We tried to incorporate that into everything, within reason. I think its something to always consider and have found useful throughout life. Now, Individual learning plans were required for SPED kids and not others.

I agree, but implementing this would require hiring personnel qualified to teach what you’re suggesting. Good teachers are leaving the profession in droves, and hiring qualified replacements, even in the current system, is nearly impossible. I can’t give you exact numbers, but last time I checked over 30% of the teachers in my district were uncertified.

China, Russia and Japan are laughing at us.

I get it, I really do. Managing a classroom with various learning abilities is a challenge. It's almost laughable at how impossible it can be, and adding alternative assessments is not often an option.

They are leaving in droves due to the tremendous burden of the education bureaucrats who think all kids are college bound. Give standardized tests, retest, test some more. It's all so insane.
There is an art to teaching, and most who truly love the profession aren't allowed to do it the way they would like.

Says they want to “remove bias in grading” by eliminating objective standards. Geniuses.
Also want to eliminate “mastery of standards.” The future is bright!

If you can't get over the bar, just lower it.

Not necessarily for that age, but anyone in med school is already a high academic achiever. If the goal is to actually educate a child, he/she may need to reassess how they studied the first time and make sure they understand the concepts. This is how mastery is achieved.
Saying, for example, that Math Ch. 7 must be understood in 2 weeks time is purely subjective on the part of the teacher. Some kids need to redo it a few times before it sticks. That is, if learning the math is the real goal.

You just lit up my day. I’ve been screaming this for years. With each subsequent year, the teacher as robot model is being expanded.

We are dumbing it down for one segment. Everyone knows that.
We are literally destroying our nation to kiss their asses.

Unfortunately, that’s done too often.

Yes, lets placate those that don't value education at the expense of those who do. Typical left wing drivel. LEts save everyone even if the successful suffer!
You said you have a teaching degree, but you are totally unfamiliar with the concept of differentiation within the classroom?

How in the hell do you think people make it to med school, divine selection, genetics, or people that do the work! We should hold them back so Johnny can retake his 2+2= test? I'm sorry but hard work and achievent should be rewarded and not dragged down to the LCD, this will trickle up, Ivy League schools will still be Ivy league schools, but when Jonny can get into college because we don't rank students on their ability and dedication we just FAIL!
