Well luckily for me I have savings and a 401k, 529s and a life insurance policy.
Taking vacations doesn’t mean no savings.
Sorry your life is so black and white

This might blow your mind: I sometimes give money to charity and also the occasional transient

a week at cape San blas
We used to go there for five nights around Columbus Day. Camper in my truck camper at the Gulf Breeze CG (RIP) in a super private spot on the marsh. We’d spend like $300 total, diesel, food, and drink included. Those were the days.

I paid about a grand to volunteer at the National scout jamboree in WVa. Slept in a tent for 10+ days and taught kids how to fish.
About $800 for airfare.
4 hotel rooms before I got there at $200-$250.
Rental car was about $1k (but the wife drove it for several days after she dropped me off).
So about $4kish to work in the hot sun for a couple of weeks.

You spent $8k for 6 days in the "Florabama area" (Orange Beach or Perdido Key) and only went out to eat once?
Holy shite. We went to OB, had our own house and pool and went out to eat 3 of the 6 nights. Spent just over half of what you did. You got fuuucckkked
ETA: Also took a 4 day fishing trip with my son and FIL to Venice. But FIL already had his camper down there, so all we paid for was licenses, food, and fuel.

We spent right at $8K 2 week road trip. L.A. to Bozeman, MT with a one night stop outside Salt Lake City. A week in Bozeman. Back to St George, UT with a stay in small town Utah.
Had a freaking blast. Loved every minute of it. saw Yellowstone, the Potato Museum in Idaho, the Dinosaur museum in Bozeman.
Next year we’re going to Boston and Salem for Halloween. Saving for that now.

Does anyone here in this thread complain they can’t afford a house, gas, or groceries?
Our house is paid for, gas is 5.29 a gallon, we shop sales and bargains. We don’t spend a lot of money and don’t live a frivolous lifestyle.
We price and save for our vacations and pay cash for it all. And, yes, we deserve it.

$10k for 7 days for a cabin in North Carolina on a lake! This was for the cabin itself. We also rented a party barge for 2 days, went white water rafting and ate out a few times.
