My company just laid off an undisclosed number of people but on my team we lost 50% so I expect the number is in the hundreds if not a thousand plus

lol
Much easier to do when you keep a running tally - be it a word or excel doc - I tell every junior employee this. Not only can you copy and paste into your reviews and complete them faster, you’re also likely going to have more examples of your accomplishments than if you’re just trying to go off memory at the end of the quarter/year

Not currently. I’ve tried a couple of times but never found the right fit for a long term thing which is needed - when we were going through infertility I did seek counseling and one lady lasted a bit but it was just a vent session on my part. Look into any benefits you may have through work to help with costs as I’ve found that mental health is rarely covered by traditional insurances
That sounds like an awful flight but I’m sure your trip to WA was nice!
Morning all! We are preparing for an arctic freeze this weekend - a low of -8 and high of 9 on Sunday after snow on Saturday. It’s gonna be so fun with two littles trapped in the house all weekend

My kids would absolutely go wild for that - especially the youngest, turdward
Colorado doesn’t have enough bodies of water
Good morning everyone! Here’s to a productive weekend - need to figure out what to get my husband for his birthday

How very #NotAllMen of you
Why do you care? People like you are part of the reason she chose not to share
Ouch for #2
re: How did you handle paternity leave?

As a manager, this is a crap take.
My direct reports will not perform to the best of their ability if they’re sleep deprived or feeling stressed out from trying to balance parenthood and work. Also if reassigning work is an issue, you need to do a better job of managing your people’s workload.
OP, my husband got 4.5 months of leave and took it all. Between his leave and mine, none of our kids started daycare until 8 months. The first few weeks as a new parent are magical and special, but you won’t feel rested for a long time (going on 4 years of sleep deprivation)
We found that shifts worked best for us. So I would sleep like 7pm-1am (I did last diaper and feed then) and my husband would cover the first and second wake up then go to be at like midnight. I’d cover any wake ups after that. It helped us both get rest!
Enjoy the time and congratulations

Marriage when with the right person is absolutely worth it. I wouldn’t have survived the first year of parenting without my spouse
Good morning!! Just shoveled my driveway and school is on a 90 minute delay. This is a very Monday Tuesday

I am so sorry for your loss. I almost died after the birth of my second (BP tanked down to 41/19 and I lost about 20% of my blood due to pp hemorrhage) and it really wrecked me after but it also shifted my mindset and made me realize I was taking life for granted.
Tomorrow is not guaranteed and all we can do is make the best of each day and show love and gratitude for those closest to us. Also I know people will say it gets better in time but the loss of a significant other is incredibly devastating and I encourage you to lean on your support system through the harder days.

Tech specifically has been bent over a barrel by layoffs in 23 and 34, if this were to happen, then I guess they’ve also solved for their mass deportation issue as everyone in tech will be freed up to work on the farms.
