Maybe w Elon building in the marsh we will get some coastal restoration. Not sure how much dirt will have to be moved to create a solid base for his operations, but my understanding is that most of that area is gooey marsh.

a close family member works at the solar panel facility in new Iberia. He has over 100 direct reports on the assembly floor. And it is an unmitigated disaster of laughable proportions dealing with the local talent base. Some of the stories are simply unbelievable.

I would argue this is more of a legal issue than not having the tech. They want drivers to still have their hands on the wheel.
Waymo has specific permission from California to have the self driving taxis.

They actually said in the video that their first order of business was doing work to the shoreline and coastal restoration. Seems like a win for Louisiana to me.

This is the most amazing, positive development for LA in my lifetime.
Dozen launch towers? That's as many as (active) KSC/CCAFS and VAFB combined.
Pecan Island is at about 29.6 latitude. KSC about 28.6 deg. Boca Chica, TX is about 26 deg. Is SpaceX planning to launch to the east from Pecan Island? Will be interesting. Props to Elon and SpaceX for thinking outside the box.

Can’t do H1b for rocket based technology or equipment. Has to be US citizen or legal green card holder here for employment. This is overwhelmingly very good for Louisiana and could provide numerous benefits down the road

It may end up being a huge ecological in addition to the business impact.
The site was an area that was owned by Exxon Mobile, and it was eventually handed over to the state after lengthy litigation over pollution and wetlands destruction going back to the 1950s. Interesting story. Give it a google.
According the SpaceX, most of the 130k+ acres will simply be buffer zone. (Think: The Stennis Buffer Zone along I-10 in south MS. Just miles and miles of swamp and woods.) A relatively small amount will be converted into building and launch pads. They have committed to continuing on with the wetlands restoration work.
So yeah, I'd say it's a big win. Some dudes will probably end up losing some awesome duck leases, and that will suck for them. My condolences on that. I'd be pissed, too.
