Does your s.o. want you to have your location on or to show “read” for text messages?

We share our location just for general safety reasons, she's never asked "why are you there?" before so no big deal.

I had read receipts on at one point, and she told me it was weird and to turn them off.

Sharing locations is an easy way to see if she is working from home or at the office.

I rarely check and we don’t snoop on each other.

It’s easier than bothering her with a text and vice versa.

No, and I'd divorce my wife if she did that.

Like imagine if a husband told his wife to constantly provide her location. Everybody would accuse the husband of being sexist and being like an Islamic husband.

Married, still don't do the tracking stuff. I don't need to track her because I'm not a psycho and neither is she, and she doesn't need to track me because she's not a psycho and neither am I.

This.

100% not turning on read receipts though, there’s no safety reason for that.

She wants my location when I go out hiking in the woods alone or go out on my photography adventures at night. Doesn't bother me.

I'm anti-read receipts in general. emails, texts, whatever. No one gets them. If you need me, call me.

and the ‘safety’ reasons to follow someone’s every location is completely overblown.

If anything the false sense of security probably adds to unsafe habits

same, we use Life360 - it's been helpful when she locked her keys in her car and I knew exactly where she was to go rescue her.

There is zero chance I’m sharing a location permanently with someone

I’m not a child
