Reveille

"Gustav made landfall Sept. 1 and brought sustained winds of 61 mph and peak wind gusts of 91 mph, according to observations taken by the National Weather Service at the Baton Rouge Metro Airport."

Here's a hurricane season tip for you. Nola doesn't keep getting spared. They never were in the bullseye. They just have to start it there to drum up interest so the people in Indiana can hear a name they are familiar with.

"Most Likely" arrival time of winds for those of you thinking about leaving.

Recent Eye measured 6 miles wide
Winds projected out 25 miles
Where do you get this info? Is that 25 miles from the calm dead center of the eye or 15 miles from the start of the inner eyewall?

MS baws - evacuating up I-55 towards Jackson, would you stop there or just keep going all the way to Memphis? Have granny and two dogs in tow. I realize it's track dependent on where to go / stop.

TIA

So sitting in a lock on, 20ft up, on Friday afternoon in SWLA probably isn’t a good idea... noted

Center of cone shifted from just east of Morgan City near Amelia to just east of Frankiin near Centerville.

That is about 25 miles westward.

Jackson is plenty. Jackson even had power after Katrina. Now, just south of Jackson didn't, but the city did.

Wait wut? I can think of four different storms that had Nola getting a direct hit.

I guess it is just too much to ask of 2020 that if it insists on another hurricane landfall to at least let this one not be at night?

We planned a long vacation weekend to Orange beach this weekend with kids out of school next Monday and Tuesday. I emailed the Management company asking them to reschedule to another date since we were in the crosshairs and they basically told me to get fricked. If I didn't show up I loose my $1500.

And I never know -- is it 25 miles across from side to side or out from the center?

That's been up since Monday morning. I laughed when I came across for work yesterday morning. Still there this morning.
