I’m dreading Thursday as well. Gonna be walking on eggshells with my mother and father in law this year. They got so upset at my sister in law (their daughter) for making the suggestion to have the holidays at her house this year that it caused this massive family argument and we didnt speak to them all summer because of it (there was other reasons as well).

Thankfully I’m not doing Thanksgiving with my parents and siblings until Sunday because my brother and sister both having to work on Thanksgiving. Otherwise I could have seen my mother in law getting snippy at us daring to split a holiday between families (something that most families do).

I’m still sick. Kinda wish it would get worse so I had the perfect excuse for staying home on Thursday

This sounds like every stereotype I envision when thinking of California people. They are just so much better than our country bumpkin selves that we should be honored to wait on hem head and foot

Yeah, I hear ya man. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it design your house.

I would stall too if I had to spend my Thanksgiving in Shreveport instead of where I live at in San Diego.

You'd be a pain in the arse and screw over plans with your free ride because you hate Louisiana that much?

Did I time travel or is this thread from last year?

They can rent their own damn car and drive. Stress is not worth it. I have saved 1/2 Xanax for Thanksgiving day. Have a few idiots in our family too. I won’t give a damn after the Xanax. (I don’t take them routinely, doc prescribed 5 tablets for trip to France and I have leftovers.)

Whiskey. LOTS of Whiskey

Oh and going to the shooting range. Very few things eases stress like the smell of fresh gun powder.

This is a very passive aggressive post. First, it sounds to me like your SO sets the rules and tells you what to do. My arse would've been gone if one of my brothers were that late to a pre-agreed upon meet time. I'm not beholden to them in that situation, they're beholden to me.

It's one thing to be like 30 minutes late, that's manageable, but two fricking hours late is straight up disrespect.

You should've either A) Left their asses and told them that they're grown ups, they can figure out how to get to Shreveport themselves (best option for staying power/dominance assertion)

Or B) Had them drive you and your wife while y'all get shitfaced in the backseat and be annoying.

ETA: didn't check the date of the OP, I'm a little late to the party.

OP, you need to grow a set of nuts and tell your wife that y'all aren't going to Shreveport for Thanksgiving.

My only problem this year is trying to figure out how to get just drunk enough that the wife cheerfully volunteers to drive the 45 min trip home from my Mom's, but not so drunk that I piss her off for being an inconsiderate arse.
