Agree. With my in-laws it’s “I’ll be there at 2”, then around 2, “we’re running late, see you at 3” and at 3, “sorry see you at 4”.

frick!!!!!! Yeah we’ll just sit here and wait for your arse all fricking day. I hate the Holidays because of my in-laws. Nothing is simple. Everything is difficult

My mom does this shite and it pisses me off. I kinda went off on her the last time.

We were driving over to see her. Me, my wife, and our 9 month old baby. I called and told her what time we'd be there as we were leaving. Her, and my brothers family were going to the Texas state fair. Fine. No big deal. We get about 10 minutes away from her house and I call to make sure they're all there, and they are still at the frickin fair.

Get to her house, door is locked, no key left for us. I went ballistic, called, chewed her arse out and she tells me just go sit down at a bar and get a drink somewhere and they'll be there in 45 to an hour. I got a fricking 9 month old baby mom! Let me just take and get her a shot of tequila! I was really close to driving 3.5 hours back home and telling her to piss off. Ridiculous.

I feel for you man. Chronically late people piss me off, and it runs in my wife's family. Never on time for anything and never thinking how it affected other people.

I would flat our refuse to have any travel plans with them at all. I'd lose my shite if BIL and SIL did this bs to me. Next time have them fly into Dallas and get a rental car from there. I'm pissed off for you

Both my wife’s parents are dead and she doesn’t have siblings, but I do have to deal with a couple aunts of hers.

One is alright, a little bossy, but she’s alright. Her husband is a great guy, but a total beta, and has just never put her in her place. But she still will go with the flow for the most part.

The other is single and I don’t believe has ever had any prospects. One of those whose parents made sure she had everything in the world, but failed her on the how to make a man enjoy your company part of life. She annoys the shite out of me, and is just a mess. My wife hates that I don’t like her so I just avoid it when she comes over for the Christmas supper. My dad and brother and I usually just go outside to talk about hunting and farming and football and hope none of the women follow.

Other than that, I can’t really complain about my family.

They are grown and he cannot make those plans for them. He can only be involved in his own planning. That is why you never say "OK, we will meet at noon and drive up together."

You say "I am leaving at noon. If you would like to ride up together be here by noon."

At noon, we gone.

That’s how you treat a lady that carried you in her stomach for 9 months, followed by hours of labor. You sound like a shitty son.

Lucky for you, thats your wife's problem and responsibility to fix.

When I have in-law probs, I tell my wife to fix that shite. I'm serious.

If my family is acting like an arse, then it's my problem and I fix it.

I've pretty much accepted my fate of a horrible Thanksgiving every year. So I must adapt to it and prank/frick with them back.

I found this, LINK, trash talk football SMS prank site and signed my FIL and MIL up for it. Didn't tell anyone except my wife. Should be a pretty funny convo at Thanksgiving. I'm going to tell a story about how I got a "random" text message and see if they chime in after. They absolutely HATE the Saints (they are from NY) so this should be great lol.

Let me recap what happened last year during the wifes family Thanksgiving get together:

- The entire family went out for dinner together. One of her uncles got shitfaced off a few draft beers stood up to goto the bathroom and fell into the table next to ours.

- This same drunk uncle from above went to go "on a gas station run" but got his truck stuck in a ditch about a mile down the road. Of course what do they do? They sent another drunk dude after him to pull him out with a chain.

- One of the preteens in the family must have been in her "goth" stage and just didnt talk to anyone the whole time and just Snapchatted everything all creepy like.

- Two of the younger boys got into a fight over who was going to play the ps4 first and the younger of the two was pushed down the stairs and got a black eye and bruised rib.

- One of the moms got completely hammered and brought up casually how her husband was cheating on her with someone in their friend circle.

I swear I should install secret cameras and sell this footage to a media outlet like TMZ or something. Luckily I have whiskey and scotch to help dull the pain.

Oh and one of her cousins recently got out of a 6 month jail stint for petty robbery so this should be pretty great. Not really looking forward to it honestly but c'est la vie.

That's when you say "frick it" and cook your own damn turkey...life is too short to spend holidays with a borderline nervous breakdown,ya know?

I'm lucky, my Inlaws are all nice.=

It's like a Holiday dinner you would see on tv from the 1950's w/o everyone dressed in their best suits and dresses.
Just normal dealio.

so she makes demands and has others fulfill them?

My sister's FIL is like this. We hosted Christmas last year. Made gumbo and he decided that he wanted turkey. We said no. So her MIL, the FIL's ex-wife, stopped and got turkey and all the fixins.

We aren't hosting shite this year. When they brought it up, my sister told them no.

And those assholes NEVER are on time. I'm one of those people that will leave your arse if you're late or start the festivities without you. Not my problem that an adult can't get their act together and be somewhere on time.

I seriously hope that baxter12 bumping this thread every year with new stories of his inlaws' Thanksgiving shenanigans becomes a beloved TD holiday tradition.
