A month ago, my SO's family came to me regarding my family's plans. I said they are most likely going to eat around 1pm. They said great! We will see yall for dinner.
Easy.
A week after that, I was approached to cook for my family.
No problem.
Last friday, my SO's family said, "Plans changed, were eating at 2 so y'all can be here." I said nahh, Ill be there for the game y'all eat without us.
Pretty sure I pissed them off but my SO and I decided our plans aren't dictated by them after they switched.
I hate the holidays so damn much. I'd much rather go on vacation than juggle families and trying to show face to either side. Nearly ruined everything last year and I refuse to let it do that this year.

I tend to get down during the holidays, not bc of the holidays, but bc of the cold weather after the holidays. My SO keeps me sane.

My wife & I spent Christmas 2010 in Vancouver BC and had a blast. We came back on New Years Eve and did our own thing.
I'd recommend a holiday vacation away from family if you've never done it.

You should request road head on the drive up to Shreveport....in front of the family.

Why you spend Thanksgiving and Christmas doing whatever it is you want to do, well hoping your SO is in agreement. That was a battle for 2 years for me, both holidays. Now it's just a given we have our deal, then they can go wherever and I'm not bothered by all the bs.

If all else fails, refer to Thanksgiving drink suggestions.

Sounds like you and the wifey have time for some horizontal monster mash.

are kind of spoiled brats, arent' they? This isn't the first time they've pulled something when they don't get their way.
I'm glad you get to spend the holidays with your family this year.

I think Clark W Griswold said it best...."Merry Christmas, Holy shite, where's the Tylenol?"

It's once a year. Deal with it like people have dealt with it for decades.

Update, it's 4:05 and we are now waiting at the rental car place. Of course traffic is a cluster, oh and I forgot to mention we are bringing our vicious 7 pound Yorkie along with us, maybe he will chew on the sis in laws Louis Vouitton bag! One can only hope! Last time we ever agree to this. Bring on the crown and wine!

You will be divorced within 5 years. Book it.

The holidays are so tough. Makes me want to buy $1,000 worth of cocaine, a handle of Jack Daniels, and carton of Winstons and spend the day watching NASCAR reruns.
