What do you except when an Ole Miss Grad gets married?

Went to a wedding 2 weeks ago where the bride and Father of the bride went to LSU. Makers at the open bar. Really fun band at the 4 Seasons in Houston.

LSU People just know how to party

So the question I have is did you go to the ABC store and get a bottle?

Why do the cash bar option here? Seems must less tacky just to have the wine, beer, two select cocktails.

I kind of get it. My first choice of drink by a long shot is bourbon. The most recent wedding I went to was open beer and wine with cash liquor. It allowed me to start the night with a bourbon and drink free beer rest of the night.

Its been a while since I got married, but don't most reputable reception places have and option for a bulk price on an open bar? Like well drinks open bar is a one time price vs a higher one time price for premium drinks? Usually the hall isn't charging the bride per drink.

I guess, I just don't like the idea of wanting GUESTS feeling like they have to pull out cash for something at a party I've invited them to.

Most venues charge either per drink or a flat rate per person, with different package prices per person if you go with cheap brands vs premium. Mine was per person a million years ago.

I think the groom doing shots discounts your vote to call a cash bar trashy.

Sorry you can't hold your liquor? Did you make people who wanted to drink pay for booze at an event you invited them to also?

Again - whatever gets you off big dog. Sounds like you are yanking it all the way over your head thinking about your supposed superiority. Must be a great feeing.

I got married almost a year ago, and my venue had three options 1. totally dry which was obviously free 2. wine and beer only which would have cost me about $1,000 for my 125 or so guests and 3. totally open bar for about $2,000. I went with totally open bar and it ended up being makers, titos, jack etc. I wanna say it was $_____ per head, but know it was $2,000 and they choose the brands.... wasn't disappointed with what they chose.

If I knew the setup, I would have pulled a bottle out of my war reserve...

considering where the wedding and reception was, the schlep to/from the nearest ABC store would probably have been more than an hour each way...

I don't either, but it's a way better option than making them pay for EVERYTHING or being a dry wedding. This was a very small, low-key, thrown together wedding. I saw the free wine/beer as a nice gesture.

Only thing the bride and groom need to provide for guests is a meal if the reception is during a normal meal time. Otherwise...it's up to what the bride and groom have decided they can afford/want for their wedding.

Nope, it's tacky and trashy as hell to charge your guests for anything.

I would. Then I'd just skip the reception altogether, if I even made it to the wedding.

Not saying you did this, but I'm willing to bet most of the people who think it's stupid to "pay for other people to get drunk" blow the money they could have used on an open bar to make their guests happy on something stupid like floral arrangement's or a photo booth

If people spent 1/1,000 the time and effort that goes into the actual marriage as they do the wedding itself, well.....

It is. I don't hold a negative view to anyone who chooses, for whatever, reason to go that route only.

Did you notice my username Junior? I’ve got an All-Pro liver Sally.

I didn’t have a bar at my wedding I had beer and good wine because that is how my wife wanted it. However not everyone can afford what you frat boys feel entitled to which is something you don’t seem to understand.

Write the check for a full wedding for yourself and your bride to be and then come complain about others. Mommy and Daddy aren’t always going to be around to soften the blow Chief.

Groom doing shots at his own wedding is trashy as frick.

My wedding reception was a semi cash bar. I bought the first 200 domestic beers then it was cash after that. It was accepted because of the venue we picked. It was a restaurant/bar and we rented out the whole thing for the night.
