attended a wedding and reception last night over at Orange Beach...

nice venue and the reception was at the clubhouse (nice facility)...

anyway, go up to the bar to get a drink and I find out it's a cash bar (my internal reaction, WTF!!!!)

this is new to my experience and was wondering if anyone else has been to a reception where this happened?

At least the weather cooperated.

Last night was wonderful in OBA!

I’ve seen it several times. I had beer and wine only because I wasn’t about to let my drunk friends belly up to an open bar-I’d still be paying that tab 32 years later.

I don’t begrudge someone because of it. It’s their wedding, not mine. I’ve been to Baptist with lemonade so be happy you had an option.

What kind of horrible person has a cash bar at their wedding?

I would rather not have a reception before charging people for drinks at my own wedding

I've been to weddings where spiked punch and cutesy cocktails named after the couple are free but everything else is cash. Never seen a full cash bar though.

I've only ever been to open bar weddings.

But honestly if neither the bride or groom (or respective families) drink much, I could see reasoning is saving money on not doing an open bar.

I mean doesn't the OT hate when people overspend on wedding receptions anyway?

Maybe they couldn’t afford it. Maybe liquor just isn’t a priority for them. Maybe family discouraged it. Maybe god told them to do it. Maybe they got a kickback.

I feel like we would see something like this at a wedding in Bogalusa

I’ve never seen this.
I would just do a no alcohol wedding or something before I ever thought about charging at the reception.

Whoa that's weird. If it was a wedding of someone I don't care about, that would be my cue to leave.

I would say it's far better not to have any alcohol than charge for it.

in my West Bank childhood, I could remember going to several wedding receiptions at the American Legion Hall at Mel Ott Park in Gretna...folks didn't have a lot of money, but they put out a couple of kegs of beer...

and to make things worse, one of the bartenders wanted to charge me for a soft drink!!!! the bartender who had been waiting on me put the kabosh on that real quick...

So if you were a guest...you would rather there be NO alcohol available whatsoever at the reception instead of having to pay for it?

Plenty of weddings are wine and beer with a cash bar for mixed drinks.

You entitled fricks need to pull up your panties and just deal with it.
