That he looks like Rasputin on Ozempic with a decent haircut?
You know we have an LSU football player who was in the 442?

And from Eunice of all places!

55 years old is when they, typically, stop having the vet retest for certain things. They use 55 as the age that any condition you have will not be expected to get any better.

I'd also like to point out that any VA rating you have may not be for your lifetime. You can be 100% and not get it for life. The P&T designation is what is generally lifetime, and not all 100% has the P&T designation. But even the P&T can be challenged if they have evidence your condition has improved, although that is a very rare challenge. P&T means permanent and total, for those that don't know. If you're P&T there's usually a damn good reason.

I was 73 when I got my P&T, 55 when I got my first ratings.
Good grief, y'all are probably too young to remember fast Eddie appointing his wife to fill the Senate seat after Allen Ellender's death. She held it for a similar period of time.

So you didn’t make 20?

Everyone I know in this range has had knee replacements and hips. Yall are savages.

I have 20 years and 5 months active duty and am credited another 3 years on my retirement from inactive duty points. Those 3 years come from another 15 years as a drilling reservist. (for pay purposes over 35 years) Will eventually have to have some sort of knee surgery and probably some more work on my feet.

I do know a veteran who gets full disability benefits for sleep apnea.

I don't know what degree of benefits he gets, but I know a guy who gets them for sleep paralysis.

Sleep apnea is around a 30% rating.

I have an uncle who was wounded during the breakout from the Pusan perimeter in 1950 or 51. He left the Army in 1954 and with help from the Jefferson Parish VA assistance officer, filed and has been getting something in the range of 10 or 20% disability for the last 70 years.

As for me, I'm at 100% and it took me over 18 years after my retirement at age 55 to get there. If I had stayed on active duty and gone straight on to my 20 years at age 42, I probably wouldn't have much of anything.

When I got my retirement physical in 2007, the doctor's summary was simple, "COL Butch, you are no longer medically qualified for military service." That sentence sent me to the VA and started the process.

I’m surprised to hear of his death, but the recent pictures I’ve seen of him looked like he aged all of a sudden and didn’t look well to me.

Like others here, a solid conservative replacement would be welcome.

My great grandfather broke 745 in…I asked him about it when he was in his 90’s and he said he was chosen because he had experience with superheated steam.
What else isn’t well known is that Sherman was Commanding General of the US Army when the title for the Baton Rouge Barracks (old LSU campus) was given to LSU…not to the state.
