Oh yes they can tell. A competent jeweler can absolutely tell if there are no inclusions in a diamond, which is suspicious af if it's large and the person bringing it in isn't an OT baller.
Yes, they can suspect, but not every lab diamond is D-E/IF. To confirm, they’d have to have specialized equipment to look for growth patterns, etc.
I’m sure their suspicions are more accurate than not now that labs are ubiquitous  but it isn’t as simple as some of the “lab diamonds are not real diamonds” guys in this thread seem to believe.

Where have you seen this? Everything I’m finding says lab diamonds have identical refraction to mined. Diamond stimulants like moissanite have different levels of refraction, but I’m not finding anything saying the same for lab diamonds.

The major difference between lab and natural is that you can always trade in a natural diamond for at least what you paid for it.
Or you can get 20 more lab diamonds for the price of one mined diamond, no trade in required.
They’re certainly not going to give you cash in exchange. It’s artificial value if they’re only going to exchange it for another one of their products.

There are some benefits of having a natural one as it will have a long term value compared to the lab grown one, but it is also much more expensive. The lab grown ones are a fraction of the cost, but they look great.
This has probably been covered, but this is a very overstated non-benefit.
You could spend $20k on a 2 carat mined diamond, and you’d be lucky to get half of that if you wanted to sell it.
A 2 carat lab diamond is easily under $1000 at the high end, unless you’re getting ripped off by Zales or whatever. Even if it’s worth $0 down the road, you’re still ahead by nearly $10k.
My ring is a sapphire, but I’d go lab if I were getting another today. Unless a gemologist is using specialized equipment or the stone has laser inscription and they check the cert, it’s not possible to look at a diamond and tell if it’s lab grown or mined.

No mention yet of Garcia Did My Husband? It was run of the mill cheating, but a fun night on the OT.

I don't know how y'all do it.
I’ve never been on one since I’ve been single for approximately 14 seconds of my adult life, but I imagine it’s a dumpster fire.

She meant have you considered dating men since you hate women.
Women clean up on dating apps regardless of weight. Men will sleep with anything.

Teenage daughters go through that phase where they hate their moms. I know this girl has good reason, but I also bet she’ll regret asking for the harsh sentence down the road.
Wasn’t one of the boys her daughter’s boyfriend? That’s an extremely fricked up thing to do to your daughter. Such public humiliation from the person you’re supposed to be able to trust more than anyone.

It requires climbing up 110 steps. Most water parks in America have staircases for tall slides. It doesn’t seem much different? You can’t go down those slides if you can’t climb up.

Some people can be happy anywhere (home is where the heart is, and all), and that’s a very positive way to approach life.
It doesn’t negate the fact that Baton Rouge has earned its reputation as an objectively shitty city by measurable standards—crime, education, poverty, health, insurance rates, infrastructure, etc.

I get Prairieville has blown up in the last couple decades. I couldn’t imagine thinking that is a decent place to live.
Especially if kids are not the main factor. It’s a weird, identity-free place to stick a bunch of disconnected neighborhoods. It has things you need (grocery stores, some restaurants), but there’s no sense of community, nothing scenic, etc.
It’s relatively safe and the schools are better than most other public options here, but it’s not a place I’d choose if I didn’t have kids.

Isn’t this around where a few years back the girl flipped her car and ended up in one the ponds? It seemed like at the time cars had a tendency to drive too fast there. EDIT: I just saw Perkins extends up fairly far north after a turn as well as being that section where the girl flipped her car. It may not be as bad on some parts of Perkins there.
It’s not too far from there. This was Perkins kind of near Swamp Rd, walking to Bluff. But you’re right—a 45 MPH speed limit (where people go much faster), two lane road, no shoulders or sidewalks. Nice normal houses and a safe area, but treacherous for walking.

I live in this area. It’s a brutal strip to attempt to walk anywhere, and probably 95% of the houses she’d pass would have cameras. I don’t know how she could vanish without being caught on camera. I pray she’s safe.

re: Trump Administration is reportedly working on 15 year car loans
Posted by Evil Little Thing on 11/10/25 at 6:22 pm to stout
This is insane. The people who would need a 15 year loan to afford a car are the least likely to be able to pay for the expensive repairs that start hitting after so many years while also still paying a car note. They’ll be crazy upside down on a loan well after the car has outlived its useful life if they buy many brands.
re: How did Alimony actually become a thing ?
Posted by Evil Little Thing on 11/3/25 at 6:32 pm to Your QB1
Marry someone with a similar earning potential. Or a higher earning potential. Then you can get alimony from her.
As it’s been said many times, almost nobody gets lifetime alimony from a 10 year marriage at 35. Is she disabled?
