Best Buy - I remember when Circuit City shut down many people said they would eventually suffer the same fate. Everything is going online and no one buys electronics at brick and mortar places and yet they’re still thriving.

Their still not exactly growing are they? When Blu Ray dies (and boy movie studios sure are trying to kill it), I don't see Best Buy being much more than an electronics store.

Apple honsestly. Prior to inventing the smartphone market their outlook was bleak. I think they’re also the reason Linux is still around also.

Steve was smart to stockpile cash, also android is Linux based.

AOL still exists

This blows my mind everytime I see it. And people are actually still paying for it. fricking crazy.

It's probably surviving on the people who canceled but didn't realize AOL was still charging them.

There is an adult "novelty" store in a nice neighborhood near me. People went apeshit when it opened up. Nobody is EVER in the parking lot. EVER. It has been there for about 6 years now. The only thing I can figure out is that they use it as a distribution center and as advertising. So when, Ashley drops the kids off at soccer practice and passes by it on her way back home, she gets online and orders a 10" Thundercock. Discretely. And it ships from that store (they are a small chain).

This is what I assume is going on with a lot of places that have an online presence. The stores are simply a distribution center masquerading as a retail outlet. Side bonus as a permanent billboard.

This. Cheap gyms survive like this as well. They keep their membership prices down and people never notice the small slice every month coming out of their account. I had a guy who managed one of these tell me that his particular location has like 4,000 members. Yet only about 100-200 regularly worked out there throughout the week.

Definitely not a money laundering/drug front or anything like that...

Linux runs most web servers. Android runs linux. Most virtual host platforms use linux.

Not sure Apple has anything to do with Linux still being around.

Ralph & Kacoo's, seriously no one is ever there...

They actually hired a new corporate chef for all locations.. who is fantastic and has a great background. But the best recipe changes in the world won't matter if the place isn't totally overhauled, redesigned, rebranded, etc. so that the general public knows the food is improved and that things are different.

Same story for so many other businesses owned by wealthy older men who are not interested in change, I'd guess.

All the CVS Walgreens & such. I know at least from my own medical insurance they were trying to go all mail order on drugs and I figured brick & mortar drug stores would be few and far between. It pretty much exploded after that. Even in my small town in the middle no nowhere we have drug stores everywhere.

I assumed CVS/Walgreens survived on their retail - not their pharmacy. They're on ever corner in major cities. I have one attached to my neighborhood so I don't even have to get on a real road. I'm in there 3-4x a week, and there's always a line

For women who buy mid-range makeup/skincare/etc., they run good sales and their receipt coupons allow you to get something you'd pay $15 for at Ulta for barely a few bucks if you play it right.

WalMart sells that stuff, but typically a smaller selection.
