Maybe not 15 years ago but I'm decently surprised that Dick's Sporting Goods is still in business. I really though they would go the route of Sports Authority.

Dicks figured out e-commerce long before any of their competitors. They also shifted to super high margin items (clothes, shoes, kayaks) to mitigate their losses in golf and fitness equipment, which were still substantial.

They will have to pay the piper for their overexpansion of retail locations, which is already showing up in their drastically reduced staffing and associate knowledge. I know people shite on workers there for being ignorant, but the store I worked at had a 30+ year golf pro, a legit certified fitness instructor, a 30+ year bike tech, about 80 combined years of fishing and firearms knowledge. Every last one of them was run off over the years to bring in someone at half their wages with 0% of their knowledge.

The store is a ghost town now, with maybe 3-4 full time associates running 5-6 departments. Manager salaries are down 40% as more attractive candidates left for better jobs and were replaced for pennies on the dollar.

That type of ghastly, acidic behavior is completely reprehensible.

Agreed. Cockamamie is an understatement to describe his behavior.

We all know Martini acts like a great dane, when she really possesses the pugilism of a poodle.
