These thugs are going to feel absolutely terrible about themselves after they attend this meeting in the library tonight.

I'm glad we're finally addressing the root cause of all the gun violence. After we get this sorted out, we'll all be looking back on this and laughing.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome announced Monday a meeting to be held with BRPD Chief Murphy Paul, faith-based leaders, and law enforcement partners to discuss a recent string of violent shootings.

The meeting will be held Tuesday, July 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the main library on Goodwood Boulevard. Mayor Broome says she’s calling on people from all walks of life to attend the meeting and discuss gun violence prevention.

City-parish officials will talk about current and future plans around violence prevention, as well as allow members of the community to discuss immediate solutions for this summer and going forward.

Broome says the goal of the meeting is to walk away with action steps to “increase the peace.”

Five shootings in four days sent over a dozen people to the hospital, some with life-threatening injuries. The rash of violence began Friday night and continued into Monday morning.

Broome started by undermining the old police chief and forced him to resign. She hasn’t back the cops and in year three she hasn’t done anything to bring the force’s numbers up.

Now she’s got a mess on her hands and she’s trying symbolism over substance to placate an alarmed citizenry.

The only way to curb violence like this is beef up the police force. She's done the exact opposite.

How's the progress on removing the abandoned cars going? I mean, I figure it isn't complete yet because the violence is still going on, but if it is near done, we should be good after that, right?

The only logical thing to do to prevent more shootings is to build a 24 hour Rouses on Gus Young Ave. that has lighted basketball court in the back.

Obviously BR still has some statues hidden somewhere that are inciting violence.

Start the search.

Our racist mayor knows what the solution to this problem is, and that is to tell all the decent people to move away from the shite hole that Baton Rouge has become...There's no other solution under her watch.

Im fairly certain she does not want "all walks of life" to openly discuss this issue. She created this mess so change starts with replacing her and her ilk.

Broome administration

Garbage pickup is a disaster
Crime is getting worse
Drainage issues are still a concern with removal of debris
Road work seems to take forever, replacing those bridges over creeks take over a year

Sad thing is St. George won't solve any of it, will make it worse.
