Five shootings in four days sent over a dozen people to the hospital, some with life-threatening injuries. The rash of violence began Friday night and continued into Monday morning.

This will do the trick.

Because people involved in these crimes usually have strong faith.

This usually works as well as the gun donation drives. Thugs really respond to these sorts of things.

wouldn't do shite about the violence in BR and everybody knows that. Can't even talk here about it.
This is all about optics for the mayor.

Much truth will be spoken at this meeting. They will bare all and fully address the actual problems.

Or not.

Lol. Trying to make it seem like it is everyone's problem when it is overwhelmingly a certain group of people.

Wanna bring peace back to the city?

hate to tell you but you can put a cop on every corner and thugs will still find a way to kill each other.

Poverty and the Drug Trade will always cause our inner cities to be violent places. Legalizing narcotics and creating safe havens should be studied.

Look at the cities prior to drugs, slums/ghettos were almost as violent then as they are now. You'll never rid the city of violence but hopefully you can lower the rate.

Broome and Paul should Just come out and say:

"Black people of Baton Rouge, not you and you, but you motherfricker, you know who i'm talking to, quit shooting people. you are ruining everything. We closed the levee on the 4th not because of the high water but because we know you're going to be shooting. Don't want some 4 year old getting shot while trying to eat ice cream and watch the fireworks because we know you can't aim for shite. How do you expect white people to not stereo type when you are continuing to perpetuate the stereo type? and white dudes shut the frick up, quit masturbating in hotel lobbies. That shite is fricking weirding me out. Thank you God bless."

Your rant is off on the wrong foot

The levee is closed on the 4th precisely because of the high water. Your outrage may be warranted, but its misdirected

These people can't do anything beyond platitudes.

All they do is have meetings to plan action groups and task forces to have meetings.

Actually it would.

BRPD used to use GIS software to target high crime areas and ot worked. Of course, our usual rabble rousers called it racist because cops were targeting majority black areas of town.

99.9999% of faith-based and "community" leaders are in it to promote themselves. They just want to make money, get free stuff, and bang more women. All they have to do is show up to a couple of meetings or funerals, and yell loudly about how children today suck

There is some truth to this, but robust and well directed police activity can make a hell of a difference. Look at what was done in NYC and the results. Unfortunately, the trend among many city leaders is to move away from these tactics because they impact certain lawless demographics.
