Especially after Covid.

-locked down 8 hours 5 days a week with other peoples kids… no way out
-germs, sickness, viruses everywhere
-no lunch hour
-$20-$45k a year
-insurance and benefits are gone
-it’s basically become a daycare

Warn your kids before they get an degree in education.

There’s a reason we have an overwhelming amount of stupid teachers.

Not everywhere is this bad. In fact most places aren’t close to that. 40k or so seems to be the lowband outside perhaps some really rural places.

Wife is at 66k and the school is excellent. Only like 5% low income

I enjoy it. Depends on where you teach and the degree of buy in from the students and their parents.

And your wage range is below going salaries at least in my area.

Teachers complain about money but they are financial morons. Teachers have the best (and most absurd) pension plans in all of America. So you make a little less (very little when you consider they actual hours spent working) but get a massive retirement in the back end.

My wife is a teacher and makes the lower end.

But she works 7 hours a day and only works 3 days a week at a private school.

She has little turds but they also have a 0 tolerance policy for such nonsense.

Police officer.

Criminals are more emboldened than ever and qualified immunity is eroding.

Only work 180 days out of the year, and still making 40k with a pension and great insurance. Compare that to a fire or police department pay, and you'll realize how over paid teachers really are.

My wife is a teacher and makes $55k per year, but she took 5 years off to be a SAHM. Her peers that stayed in the game are making $70k+. A freaking librarian is making $80k.

Her job sucks but let’s get real. June and July off. Never works a weekend. Never has to travel. Govt holidays. Spring break. Fall break. Thanksgiving break. Christmas break. That’s an entire month of holidays.

Oh, and the benefits are free for her.

But I wouldn’t take her job for 2x the pay. Kids are annoying and parents are the worst. Govt admin? Ugh.

Police officers typically don’t pay thousands of dollars to get into that field. Teachers pay for degrees. It’s become a daycare.

Teachers are paying college tuition to “teach” these idiot kids— and they get no benefits.
